is the old version of WMM available for download anywhere or similar?
i was just wondering if theres anything available that was as simple and easy to use as windows movie maker i used to use it back around 2004-2009 and onces they started changing it it was really hard for me to figure out. guess im just old and like my old things anyways what would be the easiest software to just import cut clips and drag and drop files? preferably free or cheap.

Honestly you should just try something newer from this list instead. There are plenty of free options and YouTube is a great resource for getting started with most of them. While we do have this sub-forum for WMM support, it's kind of a legacy thing at this point.

This is the version I have (I'm on Windows 7, but this is the older WMM) and it "just works".
You can also get the "official" installer (which is much larger because it's the bundle of all windows live stuff) here, if you don't trust my link:

The problem you're going to have is that WMM has not been updated since 2012, and I did a few test imports... It will not accept mp4 files.
You'd have to convert everything to another format first. I did a quick test of utvideo and WMM seems to be okay with that.
I'd second what meatwad said though, definitely try looking into other things.
