WMM audio timeline issues

Post by Amo-Chan » Mon Apr 30, 2007 1:26 am

I looked around and couldn't find my particular problem. After a lot of crazy work...finally got wmm working semi-properly with one exception...

the audio won't play in the timeline now. Any ideas? I'm sorry if it's been asked before, I just couldn't find it. God knows, I've looked everywhere. Even on the microsoft site.

Oops. I forgot this little tidbit. The audio will play in the time line, but not after I add a video clip. Then, nothing. Sorry about that.

You have a button on the left side of the timeline that lets you select which audio to hear - the "audio from video" or the "audio/music". Make sure to slide the bar to the audio/music and away from "video".

If that doesn't do the trick, what format is your audio file? Wav is best.

Ok, I did that. Didn't help. Dang it. I use mp3 music files. They've always worked very well before. I've never had this problem. When I open the file I'm working on it does say codec not found just before opening it though. Could it be I'm missing an audio codec then?

When you open the audio file or the *video* file? If there's an audio track attached to your video, that could be screwing everything up. Try opening one of your video clips in virtualdub - use the "file information" to see if there's an audio track attached, and what format it is.

If it's the audio file giving the problems, that's strange. Mp3 is buggy in wmm, but not horrible. Try converting it to wav in a program like BeSweet.

You can get virtualdub and besweet in the amvapp package:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... mvapp.html

Or if you still have the cd, just rip the song again and save it to wav from the start.

I have the amvapp. I've never used the besweet to convert any thing though. Is there a guide?
Oh, and it's when I open the video file I've been working on. When I ripped the dvd, I didn't rip the audio with it. So, these are two separate files I'm dragging into the timeline. They both work on the timline separately, but when they're both on the timeline, the video still works just not the audio.

What format is the video file in? Run a small piece of it through vdub, convert it to huffyuv, and make sure the audio(streams) is empty. Try putting that small piece into the timeline with your audio track. If it works, you'll know it's the video causing the problem. If it doesn't work, it's probably ffdshow trying to decode your audio when it shouldn't be.

You should be editing with wav regardless. Converting mp3 to wav - check the all things audio and video guide:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... audio.html
Follow the instructions, just go from mp3 to wav instead of from wav to mp3.

Would Lagarith work as well? Just in case huffyuv doesn't work?

In my experience, Lagarith is very buggy in wmm. But go ahead and try it. I've heard it works for some people. Wmm is funny that way.

Problem solved! Yatta! It was the video. I converted the whole dang thing into huffyuv (which I should probably be doing anyway) and everything works just fine now. Thanks a ton!
