Some newbie problems

Post by Sea Frost » Wed Nov 28, 2007 10:43 am

I've only recently attempted to make some amv's but i seem to be getting the same problem everytime. I'm using Windvd creator, i import the file i want to edit, i split the clip using an automatic splitter in the program, i then take the scene i want to use like a 30 second scene an drop it in the time line.
Heres the problem, when i play the clip in the time line for some reason it misses out the last 5-10 seconds of the clip and just ignores it and goes to the next scene. I've tried splitting on the bits that it misses but it still plays through and ignores them. Can anyone tell me why thats happening? is it the file format, the program or both?
The file format i'm using are MPG and WMV.

Welcome to the Org.

At first, you posted into the wrong Place, your Post belongs to the "Other Video Editing Systems" forum. Do NOT make a new Post there, a Mod will move this for you.

As for your problem, I gotta say, I never used this Movie Editor, so I don't know if it might be an internal Problem..But would you mind if I ask you why you are using MPG and WMV footage?

The program i was using didn't convert the files properly into avi. For the VOB files i just renamed them to .mpg. Is avi a better format to work with?
Which is the best converter and movie editor to use?

I'm just looking for somthing easy to use. Before anyone says adobe, it's too expensive :(

I suggest Sony Vegas 5.

There are 6,7 & 8, but 5 will do fine, there aren't really that much differences between all these version..and it's quite cheap, I believe you can easily get it for like 50 $.

I tired a demo for Vegas Platinum, and quite liked it. Is there much difference between the platinum and the normal version?

There are some significant differences.

Vegas Pro has more video/audio tracks (unlimited). Platinum has 4.

Pro has robust masking support. Platinum has, well... :/

Pro has more powerful tools for organizing and manipulating media sources (making subclips).

That's not to mention the greater support for professional hardware and better audio support.
Having trouble playing back videos? I recommend: Image

So is there a way (in vegas 7.0) to merge a bunch of clips together, or at least make it so that editing the pan crop of of one clip will affect all the clips that are selected?
