DIVX CODEC HELP

DIVX CODEC HELP
I don't want my videos in divx codec because it screws the quality. I tried converting them to .avi and Vegas won't upload them. Help?

avi is not a codec, it's a container
to make your footage work, get a lossless codec such as Lagarith
open your footage with virtualdub(/mod)
go to file-save as
name your file, for compressor, hit change, then look for lagarith lossless codec in the list.
highlight it and hit ok
then save away.
(lossless means big(ger) files...so it's not reccomended that you save entire episodes like this. instead, you should take small clips. That process can be found by reading this, and this)

Well i did try to convert the Xvid thing in Vitualdubmod, but the thing is
after it's complete it still doesn't work in sony vegas 7
Maybe i did something wrong, i am still a noob trying to learn these video converting stuff
