My software trial has expired, but my AMV's not done yet!

I downloaded the trial version of Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0 and it has expired. I know I can just uninstall and then reinstall the trial and have a fresh go at it, but I don't want to lose my progress on the AMV I was working on. Is there any way I can keep my current progress on my AMV project (not lose my project files, cut up clips etc.) and still re-download the program? Like can I just copy the program files to a new folder, uninstall and then reinstall the program, then just copy and paste the files into the new trial programs folders? I asked for Sony Vegas pro 8 for x-mas as I am thoroughly convinced I will be happier and more free to tinker in a larger program, and so I'd really rather not buy Movie Studio if I don't have to (it's like 100 bucks and I can already see the limitations it has after only 20 or so days of intense messing around in it). Any help would be greatly appreciated.^_^

Uninstalling it shouldn't delete any project files.

But the software. It's really cheap if you look in the right places, I got my copy for about £25 online.

Backup your important files, nuke your hard drive, and reinstall everything. It's what I do.
