SMASH! 2008 - Animavericks AMV Competition
Just thought I'd let people know about SMASH! convention in 2008 and its AMV Competition sponsored by Animavericks.
Official Thread on the SMASH! forum is here.
a-m-v.org calendar entry is here
Animavericks AMV Competition
Deadline: Midnight, 25th July 2008 (AEST)
Want to put your editing skills to the test? Get out your favourite editor and show us what you have for the Animavericks AMV Competition!
Demonstrate your technical and artistic skill by syncing and arranging your favourite anime series in a new clip. Just try not to marathon too many series while searching for that perfect clip!
Entry Guidelines
• Accepted formats/codecs: avi, mkv (XviD, DivX, HuffYUV, Lagarith, DV AVI), mp4 (h.264), mpeg-1, mpeg-2. Anything else, contact us first please.
• Maximum 2 entries per person (this includes group entries in which one was the contributor).
• Videos are to have no visible subtitles/fansubs other than those which you have added yourself and have noted on your submission forms for the judges (this includes text from opening/closing credit sequences).
• The majority of source footage (as in 90%+) must be from an anime (or anime-style game, in-game footage not to exceed 10% of total time). Any other content will not be accepted. If you're unsure, don't hesitate to contact us.
• Entries can have been entered in, though not won awards, in any other competitions at time of submission. Any video found to have won awards at other competitions at time of entry will be disqualified.
• No video headers/credits. Title cards will be made specifically for the competition.
• International entries accepted.
• As this is a family event, any overtly mature themes, excessive violence, nudity, etc, will result in disqualification. Artistic merit will be taken into consideration, though we reserve the right to disqualify any video we deem unsuitable.
Submission guidelines
Digital submission via MegaUpload/RapidShare or another/your own web hosting is our prefered method of submission. Please upload the file in a zip/rar/7z archive together with the entry form, then send a download link to amv@smash.org.au so we can retrieve your entry. Although not preferred, we also accept snail mail entries which can be forwarded to the following address:

Judging
Prizes will be awarded to what the judges deem to be the best three (3) videos.
The judging will be blind, with judges decision will be based on technical merit (40%), artistic merit (40%) and judge's impression (20%).
The judges' decision is final.

WOW people have already sent entries. I'm going to download the ones so far over the next few days so if you sent an entry, expect a confirmation email soon.
Also, beyond saying the format is wrong or the video contains obscene/objectionable material I'm not one of the judges, so bribes aren't going to do anything.
