since when are effects an essential part of an amv?NiK PoWeRs wrote:without effects, their amv would stand no chance, since one of the area's judged is effects, they'd lose out big time just trying to be smart like that

I may not yet be a prolific AMV creator, but this rule in and of itself would make me seriously question even entering in the first place. There are a lot of people out there who create AMVs without heavy usage of effects and/or transitions; there are simply some folks whose choices in vids look better with minimal/no effects. Why should someone who has an awesome video with minimal effects be negatively affected because of that fact? Especially when it's so easy to add a ton of effects to any vid (awesome or otherwise) and make it look pretty.NiK PoWeRs wrote:without effects, their amv would stand no chance, since one of the area's judged is effects, they'd lose out big time just trying to be smart like that

Why would it be unfair? If an AMV is crap-to-mediocre, it will be crap-to-mediocre even if the editor uses the most professional software to make it. A video should be judged on its merits, not on how many sparkly, flashy things are thrown into it or how "pretty" it looks. Trust me, I've seen eyecandy vids that are gorgeous and full of effects, but the composition is utter rubbish. I've also seen vids that don't look quite so professional, but they use the effects tastefully and still look awesome.and I see your point, there are people dead-set against using movie maker, I dont see the down-sides of it other than how limited it may be, we're trying to make the contest more fair because it would be way too unfair for people to stand a chance in an amv contest when up against AMVs that have been made with more professional programs such as sony vegas and adobe premiere when only they've used movie maker.

I was gonna suggest a screenshot of the wmm project or some other proof, because it would be easy to make an amv in another program and pass it off as made with wmm. But if you change the rules... well, idk... make the contest the way you want itNiK PoWeRs wrote:we know what is possible and movie maker and what isn't
/ima make an amv using wmm one of these days
