Re: Otakon 2009 AMV Contest Rules
How many have they received in previous years? I have no idea of a ballpark of which to make a guess. Seems most people feel in the 130-150 range. And I thought the 75 in the other contest I helped with in the past was a lot

Vegeta would like to submit a guess of over 9000.In other news:
Time to play "Guess how many entries".
Hint: At last count, it was at "oh god make it stop" give or take 10 entries.

Re: Otakon 2009 AMV Contest Rules
Final count is:
139 completed entries received
134 entries not disqualified...yet.
Disqualified entries will still be shown during overflow screenings at the convention, but priority will be given to videos that were not DQ'd. Meaning if we're crunched for time, the DQ'd videos are the first to be pulled out of the list. Also, DQ'd creators will not get "leet seat" badges as was discussed months ago.
AMVs will be troll-checked at pre-screenings, so there's still the potential for more entries to get the bump.
Screenings are this Saturday. DJI has started his own thread about it so please direct questions about screenings to him. It is an "open" pre-screening in the sense that space is limited, so to quote him, don't plan on bringing your "family, friend, relatives and dead family and relatives and the whole verizon network" unless there's actually gonna be space for them too. Right now we are planning to start at 11AM. It will probably conclude around 10PM. You don't have to stay the whole time, but your votes will help a lot more if you do.
Finalists will not be announced for a while. After screenings, the votes have to be counted, and I have to come up with the finalist list. Then I have to make a tape and mail it to Otakon's lawyer so that he can approve it. Once he gets back to me, THEN I can publish the list. I can tell right now from watching that we're going to have to cut quite a few decent videos this year. That's just how THE GAME (you just lost it) is played, unfortunately.

Well, I feel optimistic, don't you guys?VicBond007 wrote: I can tell right now from watching that we're going to have to cut quite a few decent videos this year. That's just how THE GAME (you just lost it) is played, unfortunately.
But you know how that goes. On the plus side, it should mean that the contest itself will be a good one!
