Just had to say, TsunamiX. I'm sad you didn't make the finals. I can understand why, but your video was exceptionally enjoyable ^^ Definitely the highlight of the Overflow I would say. I'm glad I noticed it in your sig. And I cannot believe I didn't catch what a brilliant ending that was at the con So subtly perfect! I can honestly say that's probably the best multi-layered jab at Endless Eight I have ever seen. No other jabs at it can stand before that ^^ Thanks for your work!

Thanks for the compliments, I'm glad people enjoyed it. There was a fair bit of discussion between myself and a couple friends regarding whether people in general would get the Endless Eight gag, and in the end I decided to lengthen the opening of the video a bit so it wouldn't be quite as disjointed at the beginning (though not in time for the Otakon deadline). The downside to the longer opening of course is that the video loses that good laugh the original had with the camera cutting to show who was watching the tv.Gaelstrom wrote:Just had to say, TsunamiX. I did, that's what the "tried to tell YT it was parody" was all about. They waited a month to get back to me and finally said "we reviewed your request and we still can't do anything about it kthxbai." So if I tried again they'd probably sue. They didn't even bother forwarding it to the people that filed the claim. If I'd gotten ONE of my videos back up, it would have saved the account. CURSE YOU OPTIMUM RELEASING AND FRONTIER WORKS FOR NOT LETTING ME MAKE YOUR CHARACTERS SAY NAUGHTY THINGS!chui101 wrote:If it's clearly parody and they file a DMCA complaint, you should (after consulting with someone with some legal know-how) file a DMCA counter-notification. I did this for my Harry Potter/FMA trailer after Aniplex submitted a DMCA notice to Youtube. It was offline for a month but they eventually put it back up.Honou_Miko wrote:Hetalia, on the other hand... -_- Frontier Works haaaaaates it. My third strike for YouTube was a really dumb Hetalia video that wasn't even very well edited, used probably no more than 40 seconds of footage (repeated over and over for lip synch) over edited-down SNL audio. Tried to tell YT it wasn't the full work, was VERY clearly parody, but... nope. o_o
If they do decide that your counter-notification is worth pursuing, they can sue you, so be sure your counter-notification is solid. Have a friend who is in law school look at it or something.
(I had Howl do the Christian Bale-out, since that's his voice actor. The upload lasted a few days before being taken down.)
PS HOLY CRAP THAT WAS YOUR TRAILER. I love making mental connections like, way after the fact. >_>

I liked TsunamiX's video. I would have put it just behind the two Code Geass one's. It definately should have been in the finals

Thanks, my partner will be elated to know that you recognized that (that's all he could talk about for a while after we submitted the AMV XD) And no, we used After Effects, it took a lot of patience on his endxstylus wrote: Special mention:

- Your motion track with the Bed, Bath, and Beyond towel was perfect. It's rare I see MT done well in an AMV. Did you use Mocha for that?
"YAY."

Just before Otakon I had spent two straight weeks assisting with some motion track work for a motion picture (my first movie cred!). You tend to develop an eye for good track work real quick.msanogi wrote:Thanks, my partner will be elated to know that you recognized that (that's all he could talk about for a while after we submitted the AMV XD) And no, we used After Effects, it took a lot of patience on his end
You guys eyeballed it that smooth with straight AE? Patience my ass, that's masochism. Mocha would've probably have that shot done in 15 minutes (er... after you spend a week learning the program). A full version comes free with CS4 Master Suite. Takes some learning but it's amazing the kind of ridiculously difficult shots it can do a good motion track on.

Re: The Otakon 2010 Thread (OK now panic)
My partner was right, i am pretty stoked to get some compliments. In fact she called me only a few min ago to tell me that info. I do motion graphics at work, but i never do any rotoscoping or motion tracking, so this project was really my first dive in to it. Now, i looked at Mocca for AE a few years ago, and my assumption was that it was a planer tracker. So, i guess i erroneously assumed it could not track pixels. I guess it is time to do get out my 7d and shoot some video for motion tracking this weekend! But thanks for the compliment. BTW that comp had over 100 keyframes between the logo, and the number of filters. Yes, it was masochistic.xstylus wrote:Just before Otakon I had spent two straight weeks assisting with some motion track work for a motion picture (my first movie cred!). The rotoscoping was a nightmare in Friggin' Horse. So much moving throughout the whole video. Those mouths wanted to float around everywhere. @_@ It took me way longer to make the girls in the background keep their mouths shut, than it took to make all the dance moves. I ended up not allowing any tweening and just did it frame-by-frame with motion of .psd layers in Premiere.
msanogi, Is it any easier in AE (once one gets past the learning phase which I haven't even been able to )?
