Here's a ballot!
Image

The unofficial list is correct. I'm going to add that we've sobered up and decided that Moe Moe Rebellion by ViviFX is being awarded Best Overflow. Hooray more prizes!

There were SO many videos this year that I loved, it's hard to pick favorites, but I'll give it a shot since I didn't get to vote. I just count ballots and doesn't afraid of everything.

VIC'S FAVORITES (NOT THE ACTUAL WINNERS)
-----------------------------------------------------
Trailer: One Winged Angel Productions - DBGT: Taken.
Drama: Can I say "all of the above"? Deceiver was amazing, and is doubly good when you sync it up with Human (Pink Noise Radio Edit) so that the song ends in time with the video! Is It Safe? scares me and was that some Gregory Horror Show? A Glorious Dawn takes the cake though for being another one of those hopeful drama videos and I just had to give it an award since it really isn't the kind of video that'd win an audience-voted contest.
Action: Again, I LOVED them all, but Sleeping Beauty totally sold me on the anime and it never slowed down throughout the whole video.
Romance: Farewell Satoshi Kon gets my nod here, and an extra nod for the totally fictional "Most Improved Creator" award.
Upbeat: Squid Girl!
Comedy: Deer Suplex narrowly loses out to Business Time here. THAT'S how you do words, people!

Thanks for submitting, showing up, voting, or just hanging out in this thread!

Hey, actually, it dawns on me, Cyanna, I met you at the con that night I was panicking about missing the AMV awards. Was that Scintilla you were with? Dressed up as... was he Mephisto Pheles?

Okey-dokey. Now I can see a ballot, time to dish out my thoughts on individual vids:

INTRO

holy crap is that my vid featured in the intro there? yes it is! *squeeeeeeeeeeee*

TRAILER
My vote went to Stupid AMV Title. It was the clear best of the three, that the audio itself was funny wasn't enough, you took it a step beyond!
DBGT: Taken: I hate GT, and I love Liam Neeson, so I came really close to voting for this, actually. Like, really really close.
Priest Alexander: As a trailer mashup, this isn't bad, it just happened to be paired up with two superior videos. :uhoh: You didn't do anything wrong in your vid, however, so don't be discouraged!

DRAMA/SERIOUS
It was close. These four were all top condenders for my vote:

Deceiver: It's not a song I would normally connect to Princess Tutu, but you did a great job here. The source and song melded flawlessly. That said, you were a bit heavy on fades in some places, though that just might be personal taste. While it's no "Hold Me Now", it's damn close.
Is It Safe?: That was...terrifying. And I don't scare easily. Also the second most unique video in the category.
Letting Go: I'm a fan of the direction Linkin Park is taking, and I had considered using this song in something, but you beat me to the punch, and did a marvelous job. Props!
A Glorious Dawn: This one won my vote, simply for being the most unique by a hair. It was a flawless blend of so many different sources, which is no small feat.

Others drama thoughts:

Ready to Ignite, and Mahuo Shoujo Requiem were both good videos that I would not hesitate to show as space filler in our Anime Club (its tradition that we play top-notch AMVs on screen before our meetings officially begin.) Like I said, it was close.
And Someday...I'm sorry, your video was also really good, but after seeing a few months back, that will always be the definitive "Fix You" video for me. I'm also not very familiar with Utena, so if there was emotional significance beyond surface level, I missed it. :(

ACTION
God damn this category was hard to vote on. Almost every single one of them was excellent to the nth degree. This was by far the strongest category this year.

My ultimate vote, however, went to Kings Legend. Action vid votes, to me, are all about which vid rocked my socks off. And that vid rocked so hard......

Special props to....

Your Perfect World: This seriously wants to make me check out Black Lagoon.
Angels Made from Neon: This was a close second for my vote. Felt a bit more Upbeat-y than Action-y, but whatevs, you did great!

ROMANCE/SENTIMENTAL
Ignoring my own video, three others stood out out:
Maya and Company: As I said before, a well deserved win! Thanks for softening them up with cute overload before I hit them with emotional stuff.
With You Around: I enjoyed yours, greatly. I'm a total sucker for that kind of stuff, and the editing was top-notch to boot! I actually want to see Toradora! now.

Also, Vic, you're making me blush, man!

UPBEAT/DANCE
Let's Rock!: AIIIIIIIIIINT NOOOTHIN WROOOOOONG WITH THAT! I was seriously headbanging along there. I actually downloaded it the instant you put it online (saw you win at Iron Editor in AUSA).
Sweet: This was done by a 13 year old girl? She has a bright editing future in her hands.
AMV ja nai ka? (An Anime Music Squideo!): Perfection in AMV form. How the hell did that song even get made?
The 800lb Gorilla: I'm really glad you answered that call there. Someone had to, I mean, shit.

COMEDY
My vote went to Evangelion 0.22 - Shinji does (Not) Mean Business. I laughed so hard my ribs hurt. That's usually the sign of a winning comedy.
War, Basically: We need more comedy videos like this. Seriously. How do we not have more videos like this?
Knock-Out: DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!
Ouran Host Club Welcomes You!: To me...this didn't belong in comedy. In fact, I'm not sure what category it belongs to. Similar problem with War, Basically. As I said earlier, maybe Comedy can be renamed "Comedy/Musical?"
Addiction: I must say, well handled, and an excellent note to end the contest on. I'd say that if Evangelion 0.22 wasn't there, I'd have voted for yours.

All in all, excellent contest, and a ton of fun to attend! Only days over and I can't wait for next year!

Yeah....you asked me about the Drama winners and I had the hardest time trying to describe the runner-up without a ballot.

He was this guy (the fact that it fit the IE theme was completely coincidental). Sorry that second pic is pretty disturbing but it explains the creepy red contact lenses.

Hey Vic i got a question. One of my friends who was at the Con said my Amv got shown at the contest even though it wasn't on that list on the front page. She said it was due to something with another editor vid not being able to be shown. I just a little confused on what happened lol since it wasn't listed on the page in the front. Did it get judged or anything because it not on the ballot thing up there? Or was it just shown to fill the spot?

Also Congrats to all the winners!! =D I bet the con was great, I wish i could have made it...

Yay!! :D I was so sad when yours didn't make finals, but the AMVs there were no disappoint.

Also, gundams, wat?

There was indeed an AMV that couldn't be shown for legal reasons. Number 19, on the ballot I believe (someone correct me on that if I'm wrong). Basically, since yours was the next highest ranked vid that didn't make the finals, they played yours instead, along with a little note before explaining that the ballot is incorrect, and any votes for number 19 will be counted towards yours. So yes, you did get judged.

Next to the cheers and the laughs, hearing I did the words right is a compliment I'll hold for a long time. I really respect your work Vic. It is an honor to receive praise like this, especially from yourself.

The Glorious Dawn vid was prob my fav vid in the contest, and think it is an uplifting and powerful vid.

I found it interesting that it doesnt focus on any characters, and in fact has almost no characters in the vid at all.
I love that the main "character" that the vid is about, is actually all beautiful backgrounds
