Congrats to all the finalists and the winners!

SMASH is the only contest I win, I love you Aussies

Anyways, congrats everyone! |:> |:>
For what it's worth, I thought your video was FREAKING AMAZING and should have won Best in Show. It was awesome

Also, just want to say that I really like the format of having Iron Editor be focused on as its own event, and then having the award winners announced afterwards, rather than mixing the two together (as I think it was done in the past?).

As always Iron Editor was super fun, I loved all the sing-along stuff and the "Senpai Says" amvs! And Erika and co. did a great job hosting!

And thanks for all the hard work you put in to run the usual AMV events AND have a dedicated theater, Vic. All the events were packed so obviously everyone enjoyed all the AMVs! Great job as always! :D

Here's the ballot with all the finalists and the winners/runners-up indicated. Best Overflow had not been decided by convention time.

And here's the 2014 version of the AMV Contest Notice:

Image

"NOTICE: The Otakon 2014 AMV Contest features plot spoilers, senseless violence, girls in skimpy outfits, Pokémons, borderline censored naughtybits, unconventional relationships, Colin Mochrie, just about all of Madoka Magica, hashtags, cosplayers, and a dog that thinks it's Gary Coleman. It's that awesome. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!"

Yeah. And apparently "borderline censored" meant "so barely pixelated you can plainly still see what was being censored", in the true Japanese sense of "censored."

The contest overall was very interesting, to say the least. As part of the ballot-counting brigade this year, I saw unfolding a fierce battle between two videos for Best in Show. JP/VicBond might have more solid numbers in the next few days, but let's just say it was a relentless battle between those 2 videos.

Congratulations to the finalists, and thanks for making the contest another stellar one.

If the runner-up video is what I think it is, then I can definitely can see how Best In Show would be a fierce battle.

Thank you! I am on auto-pilot today though since I decided to come in to work. This weekend, while fun, was draining. But I had a blast hosting and seeing some familiar faces. The crowd was great! Congrats to all the finalists and winners! Though it was our first year doing the AMV Theatre it was an immense success and I'm looking forward to next year.

The first rule of ballot club, is we do not talk about ballot club. No solid numbers will ever be released to the public, sorry guys.

Since nobody seems to have posted it yet, I'll also add that MyCatHatesYou defeated me in Iron Editor. I feel both of us did really good jobs, so I can't wait for the videos to be posted.

Well, since you asked...

Edit: Also I thought it was worth pointing out that both the 2nd and 1st place videos in Romance/Sentimental were pretty much purely Sentimental without the Romance.

Yes. I won it two years ago with *my* SenBASA video ("Yer Guns Put Them On"). Like back then, it wasn't announced until after the convention.
(Last year, it went to Kireblue's "I Want Hippopotus", and it was shown during Iron Editor.)
