G-Amv 2015

Post by GeneralGuyAmv » Fri Oct 24, 2014 8:05 pm

We’re proud to announce that G-Anime will have its 7th amv contest!

About the con: G-Anime is small anime convention created by the SAJG (Société d'Animation Japonaise de Gatineau) in 2009. The convention will take place at the Palais des congrès de Gatineau from january 23 to 25 2015.

General rules
-Only one amv per category and up to 2 amvs can be sent by participants
-The contest is open to all (but some categories are restricted)
-Contest is rated Pg-13, excessive violence (decapitation, organs) or nudity (ecchi allowed) will lead to disqualification
-Bumper/titles are allowed as long it does not exceed 20 seconds. The convention has the right to send Virtualdub to wildly chomp these pieces.
-Video size and ratio should be of minimum: 640 x 480 or 640 x 360
-Video time should be between 50 seconds and 6 minutes
-The deadline to submit is January 2 2015 at midnight (East hour)
-Amvs must not have been sent at any of G-Anime’s previous amv contest
-Plagiarism will not be tolerated
-G-Anime’s staff has the right to accept or refuse any amv for any valid reasons

Categories
-Local: Contestant MUST reside in Ontario or Quebec’s region or attend the convention in order to enter this category. It’s a freestyle category. Synch, effects, originality will be the general criteria. Amv must be no older than 1 year. MEPS AND COLLABS ARE NOT ALLOWED.

-Exhibition: This category will not be evaluated (tough every broadcasted amvs of this section will have the chance to win the public’s prize). Amv must not be older than 1 year. COLLABS AND MEP ARE ALLOWED. Anything goes for the choice of vid.

-Idol: The contest theme this year focused on...IDOLS! So we would like you to send us some amvs with that theme. Vocaloid? Singer? Diva contest? Anything goes as long it shares a link with the theme. Amv must not be older than 3 years old but there will be bonus points for amv made less than 6 months ago. MEPS AND COLLABS ARE ALLOWED.

Other Awards will be given for shitz and giggles.

*Note, if less than 3 amvs are received in Canadian or Idol categories, some changes in the rules might occur.

Formats
Format: AVI, MP4, MKV, MPEG, MPEG2, WMV
Codecs: H264, XviD, DivX), MPEG, MPEG2, WMV9 with MP3, AAC, WMA, FLAC or Vorbis
Please, avoid .mov
For sending an amv

To send an amv, send a mail to with the following information
-Full Name
-Nickname
-Country
-Phone number and Adress (only if you are from Ottawa or Quebec)
-Will you attend the convention? Are you pre-registered?
-Amv name(s) and categorie(s)
-Anime Used (if more than 4, put various)
-Music Used (if more than 4, put various)
-Link to the amv (animemusicvideos.org link, mega, mediafire)

Selection process
G-Anime cannot guarantee every amvs will be broadcasted since the time allowed for the contest is rather short and we would like to have a maximum of variation among the broadcast. Contestants that reside in Quebec or Ontario will have a priority for the broadcast depending of their level. Contestants that attend the convention will have A BIGGER priority depending of their level. These measures aim to encourage the creation of local amvs and to give some freshness for the contest. No list of entering amvs will be provided before the contest broadcast to ensure the public will have a maximum of suspense (however, participant’s nicknames will be revealed 2 week before the broadcast).

Concerning the level: Please, make sure there are no subtitles (fansub) in your vid, that the visual quality is decent enough and that your amv has the minimum requirement to be what we call…well…a decent AMV!

For those who would like to initiate themselves to amvs.Well, amv making is a big world. For anyone who would like to start, here is a nice starting point. For those that are looking for a software, most computer have Windows Movie Maker (not a very good soft but still better than nothing). Most amv maker either use Sony Vegas or Adobe premiere pro. For those that are looking for tutorial. A lot can be found on Animemusicvideos.org. Note that there is a lot of info like how to convert formats, how to encode properly, how to mount your timeline in general etc. Speaking of encoding, zarx264gui is pretty useful and free.

Alright! 2 amvs already in! Keep them coming soldiers!

If you know people from either Ottawa or Quebec in Canada, please, spread the word!

For the rest of the world: you can still submit in the exhibition or in Idol section.

You've got one possible local editor here! Though that might depend on if you accept manga music videos.
If not I can try and get an AMV done for the deadline, but no promises since clips and I, uh, haven't gotten along very well for the past couple years.

M@D, comic, manga, cartoons are ok as long they have a link to animation. Well, like I said, we have a priority for local contestant as long videos is decent enough (and you don't need to be Nostromo there^^).

All right! Already 5 in! This is going well so far! For outsider (Out of Quebec or Ottawa), don't forget you have the exhibition to exhibit your amv to the guest of the convention (I will try to get feedback on each amvs) and that the idol category is open to anyone in the world!

I know 2 years ago the event was sunday. I do not have the schedule yet! Little corrections added about local category since I actually meant Ontario regrion, not Ottawa!
