Hi Anime Fargo! Question, it looks like in the rules you have to be attending the convention to submit. Is that right?

Yeah, that's right. Since this is our first year running an AMV contest, and since we had attendees specifically requesting this and a couple of other fanworks contests, we wanted to keep entries limited to our attendees for now. We also wanted to make sure this is something we can handle (we're still a pretty small convention, relatively speaking). In future years, if we continue to have an AMV contest, chances are we'll open entries to non-attendees.pwcagal272 wrote:Hi Anime Fargo! Thanks for the question!

You don't have to give a different email address. I included that in the rules just in case someone wants to use a different email address than the one they're submitting from. If you want to include the same email address that you submit from, that's totally all right.Cear wrote:From the rules...

Thanks for clarifying!

How many submissions have you gotten, if I may ask? (Also, a random suggestion I just thought of that may or may not be stupid but whatever): If you don't get very many entries, it might be better to play all of the videos received rather than just the Top 3 that won, unless every entry will become a "Winning Entry" (I'm not trying to be insulting of the competition LOL, I'm just wondering how it'll work since it's the first year for it ). Are there categories to them (I take it there isn't?)? Is there a minimum length? And could you provide more detail on what constitutes "too violent" or "too sexual"?
I have never attended an AMV competition before and I'm considering this as my first. Thanks for fielding my questions.

I apologize for taking so long to respond. It's been a crazy few days.Ochinchin AMVs wrote:How many submissions have you gotten, if I may ask? At the moment we have a handful of entries, but we're expecting to get more closer to the deadline, which is still a month away. We don't have categories this year; we figured for our first year we would avoid categories to see how many total submissions we receive. Minimum length should be 30 seconds (we've gotten a couple of "commercial" style submissions that are around that length already).
As far as "too violent" or "too sexual" goes, we would prefer AMVs to be PG-13 at most, but PG would be better. We do have several very young attendees at our convention. To put some harder limits on it, nudity is against the rules and it would be best to avoid anything too bloody or gory. Ultimately, it will be up to the judges to decide whether something crosses the line or not.
And finally, thank you for your suggestion! We've actually been considering that, depending on how many entries we end up getting, we may play all of them during the convention.
Thanks so much for reaching out! We look forward to your entry, should you decide to submit!

Unfortunately I don't think I have the money to attend, I was considering holding one of your Party Rooms to pay for it but that idea fell through. -_- Good luck with submissions though.
