BlerDCon AMV contest info! COVID-19 update

Post by DJJonnyBlaze » Fri Mar 06, 2020 3:53 pm

After long discussions with the city and working out details with
the Hyatt Crystal City we regretfully announce that Blerdcon
“Chocolate City” will be postponed to July 16th-18th 2021. By
now, all of you are well aware that Covid-19 infection rates and
spread have not slowed as we’d hoped. We cannot in good
conscience put the community at risk, even in an effort to
celebrate it.

We were excited to debut our first ever AMV contest at
Blerdcon, so we understand the disappointment at the delay.
These are unprecedented times. We will be postponing the
contest in future to line up with the 2021 dates. We know that
visual artists are constantly creating new works, so we will
be re-starting our submission process for AMVs later in the

fall. If you have submitted your video, it will not be processed-
instead we encourage you to apply with that submission or

whatever new work you would like to enter when the contest is
live for 2021.

We appreciate your patience, patronage and support as we go
through the seismic upheaval of this pandemic. There will be
additional announcements to follow regarding all that Blerdcon
will be doing presently and in the future as we wait for a
vaccine, a treatment and a flattening of the curve.

Hello, I am starting this thread to invite everyone to the BlerDCon AMV contest

This contest lets creators showcase their talents by screening the top entries at Blerdcon 2020. Not only will you see the most elite AMV offerings, but you also have the chance to vote and choose the winners.

For consideration in the Blerdcon 2020 AMV contest, please read the following carefully:

AMV entries will be narrowed down to the top contenders and screened at Blerdcon 2020. During screening, the audience will have a chance to vote for one winner per category, Best in Show, and Best in Editing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rules:
- AMVs must be no shorter than 1 minute and no longer than 5 and use resolution from 720p to 1080p
- No 4k videos will be accepted
- All videos should be original work
- No video may enter that has placed in a contest within the past 6 months
- Do not include opening or closing credits or watermarks
- Only one entry permitted per creator/studio for this contest
- Videos should be appropriate for a general audience; videos with excessive violence/gore, suggestive themes/lewedness, or profanity may be rejected. The general rule is to keep to PG-13 and final ruling is up to judge's discretion.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Categories are as follows:

Action: tends to be more fast paced and centers on action, activity and coolness factor

Drama: focuses more on storytelling and strong emotional elements

Comedy: evokes humor through song choice, editing, and/or clip progression

Upbeat: uses faster transitions and music with higher bpm like dance, trap, Afro beats, etc.

Romance: showcases romantic relationships and shipping, whether canon or fanon

Originality: parody, trailer edits, clip compilations, or anything else that does not necessarily fit the above. Creativity is key!

If you qualify as a finalist, we will notify you via email from blerdconamvcontest@gmail.com

Was there an AMV contest last year? I didn't see much of an anime crowd when I went.

By original work do you mean the video can’t have premiered before the contest?
