Honored by shame

Post by MikageNoMiko » Wed Sep 03, 2003 2:44 am

YES!!! My vid got disqualified from the AWA Pro's!!! I didn't even think such a thing was possible given some of the videos that were in it last year! (Well, either that or everyone got personalized tapes). I feel so proud of my achievement! I made the vid to piss people off and it worked! YAY for me! :D

That's not me, I sent it all via snail mail and even got the e-mail back from OtakuVideo saying it was tested and accepted.

Here it is. The video that the AWA Pro Contest did not want you to see:

The funny thing is that even though it's meant to piss people off, I showed it right before my parody "Tomoyo Does Cardcaptors" at Fanime, and a sizeable amount of people heavily applauded it. XD

I'm still dubious about it deing disqualified. If we can have yaoi porn videos in pro I dont see why we cant have ones designed to piss people off....

it sounds more like a mistake or something.

OK, having seen it I can tell you that this video most definitely was NOT disqualified.... however it didnt get into the contest.

Why it isnt in Pro I do not know, there's been some mistake - I'm certain of that now.

There is no censorship in pro - there is a video like this every year. Email otakuvideo and see what happened, but it may be too late to fix :(

Qua?

This is weird. Are you sure you indicated in your entry that you were aiming at the _PRO_ entry? Last year we had one guy who didn't indicate one way or another, and we put them in Expo as a default, especially if they forget to include the disclaimer form.

I can't see your vid right now (at work) but I can tell you with no doubt that we didn't disqualify on basis of subject matter or content. We'd only disqualify due to insurmountable tech problems (ie, we can't get the tape to play) and I didn't hear anything about this one way or another. I will speak to Patrick about it immediately, as it may just be a stupid slip-up on our end.

Assuming that is the case, what do you want to do? It is probably too late for it to participate in pro, what with the tapes having been sent out and all, and this kinda botching the "blind judging" and all. We can place it in Expo easily enough if you're willing to do that, or we can have it withdrawn alltogether.

If it's any consolation, you're in good company. My last video was nearly dropped from the contest three years ago because my tape got stuffed in a corner and forgotten about until the last minute.

Yes... ian... her's is the video that I was talking about when I said that it was uploaded and not found....

OK... this is what happened

You uploaded your video to contest.otakuvideo.com
I checked the video and updated its status on the website. The website sent you an emial that specifially said that the file was fine, but that this email was no indication that a contest accepted your video (I know... i wrote that part of the email my self)

so... your video was uploaded properly... but you never added it to the pro contest... so when I went to make the pro judging tape... your vvideo was not added...

Your mailer, tapes, and adult form... arived in the mail... so I put it with the huge pile of other mailers, and while I went to otakon, my assitants copied the pro contest onto the tapes, including yours.

I found this out when I was packing your tapes for the pro contest... i could not find a voting sheet for you (since i print one with a unique name and password on each). Considering it was 4 am in the morning at the time... i figured i would wait for you to contact me before I did anything... I can still give you an account to vote in the pro contest if you wish...

about the only thing I can offer is to put your video in the expo contest, and to give you an accoutnt o at least jusge and partially participate in the pro contest... though honestly, I wish you would have emailed me, or Matt my director first.

your video did not piss anybody off... so keep trying. I will say this much... I have gotten one... and only one video thathas ever pissed me off... and its not yours ^_^
