AnimeNext 2003 AMV Contest - Complete Listing / Results

Post by VegettoEX » Sun Oct 05, 2003 6:55 pm

Enclosed are the full results for the AnimeNext 2003 Anime Music Video contest. There were twenty (20) submissions to the contest, total, which were broken down into three categories:

Drama (8 videos)
Action (5 videos)
Comedy (7 videos)

The music video contest was shown a grand total of four (4) times throughout the convention (Friday at 10 am, Friday at 7 pm, Friday at midnight, and Saturday at 12 pm). Each time the contest was played, it was played back via a projector, multiple large speakers, and its SVHS master tape. One ballott could be found in each con-goers bag which they received upon registration. Ballotts were due in to the Info Desk by 5 pm on Saturday. The winners were announced Saturday at approximately 9:30 pm during the Awards Ceremony (which took place during the cosplay judges' deliberations). All four category winners were announced and played on a projector for the cosplay / awards ceremony audience directly off their MPEG-2 masters from the computer.

... for technical quality and general fun-ness!

The Judge's Award video selection was picked by Meri and myself as the video that we found, as seen in its description, to have the best technical quality (visual and audio) and to be the most fun video that had not already won another category, which we felt deserved the recognition the general audience may not have necessarily seen right away (from an AMV creator's point of view)

The contest was absolutely fantastic this year; big thanks to all of you that submitted videos. Each of the four showings was phenomenal (all of which ended up with completely filled rooms by the end of each showing, with demands for MORE showings).

We look forward to 2004's Anime Music Video contest! AnimeNext will be moving back to Secaucus, New Jersey for 2004, which will hopefully allow for more attendees (especially the AMV creators!).

Thanks again, everyone, for a great show.

Congragulations to all the winners! I'm glad that Anneke and I could help ^_^ Oh and Mike, are we gonna be able to get copies of the contest?

Yeah, I'm definitely planning on at least getting VHS copies of the contest to all of those who submitted. I'm planning on doing a DVD of the contest (with extras like all the overflow videos) at some point...

We just got back from the con, though, so I'm kinda pooped... I'll think about it later :P
