Bakuretsu Con AMV Contest

Post by Furankurinu Peteru » Mon Mar 01, 2004 10:16 am

Hello Everyone,

Bakuretsucon, the only anime and gaming convention in vermont, is currently searching for entries for our AMV contest. Our main guest this year is Tiffany Grant and we've just recived pre-reg numbers that are higher than any previous year and we need your entries to make this popular event as successful as it was last year. The rules for the contest are as follows:

Anime Music Video (AMV) Contest Rules

The AMV Contest is open to both convention attendees and the general public. Contestants must mail their AMV on a VHS (recorded in SP please) or CD-R (see rules below) to the
address listed below by March 23, 2004.
Please use this AMV registration form

Please submit all entries to:

Bakuretsu Con
PO Box 44
Vergennes, VT 05491

Rules for all entries:

Limit one entry per person, group, or studio.

Music video must use anime footage, we will allow some mixing of other types of footage. But 80% of the content must be anime.

Running time is to be no longer than 6 minutes.

You may use any kind of music you like, but keep it clean. If it would not air on the radio because of content then you shouldn't use it. Remember there might be children in the audience, or others that might be offended. Also make sure to state the title of the music and the artist that recorded it.

We will accept all content, but please be aware that any graphic or sexual content will not be publicly displayed. Artwork which includes mature content will be judged privately by members of our staff whom are over the age of 18.

DO NOT send us your original! Make a copy of your original and send us that.

Please label your tape with your name, address, phone number, and title of your video.
Use the face label of on VHS tapes not the spine label. For CD-RS please write this information on the face of the disc its self rather than using a label.
Also indicate if it is a DVD, VCD, or CD-R. A Sharpie fine point works really well on a disc.

To avoid cutting off some of your video when we re-record it make sure to leave about 15 seconds of blank tape at each end of the video.

For VHS please record it in SP format for optimal quality.

For CD-R please use a standard format that can be played on a windows based operation system. (Not for Mac please) If you would like confirmation we received your tape please include your e-mail address on a self addressed and stamped post card.

Please note that tapes and CDs will not be returned at our expense.
If you would like it back please send us the proper amount of postage or an SASE.
Also please note that we reserve the right to use your video at future Bakuretsu Con events for exhibition purposes only.
All entries must abide by our rules. We reserve the right to
reject any video we feel does not conform to the guidelines that we have set. If you have any questions please e-mail us at info@bakuretsucon.org or reply to this post

Please send your labeled VHS or VCD and a completed copy of the submission form to the above address by March 23, 2004.

So start sending us your videos folks and we hope to see you at our con in April!

No, applicants are not required to attend the convention. However, there are prize tickets given out to the winners of the contests which are only redemable at the prize table during the convention.

Okay... I'm not assuming I'll win.. but let's pretend for a moment I win an award... Would I at least receive a cheap paper certificate in the mail?

I want to help support your contest, and if I have this latest project I'm tickering with done before your deadline (and I don't see why I won't) I would like to enter it into your amv contest.

I was just wondering would I, invalidate my entry from of qualifying for an award because I will not be in attendance to receive a prize. I just wanted to make sure I could potentially receive the recognition if I won an award. That's all I'm really asking.

I understand. An applicant does not have to attend to win an award. All entries that meet the requirements in the rules stated in the above post qualify for awards and recognition. Winners of the contest will be announced at the con and all winners, wether they attend or not, will be informed of their victory and I will be posting a list of these winners after the con. I'm not quite sure about the "cheap paper certificate". I will have to discuss winner recognition with our con chair at the upcoming meeting. I will get back to you after that. Thanks.

Any chance of internet/FTP or whatever submission? I'm both lazy and broke-not a good combination.

I don't know if an FTP submission is possible, I'll have to play around with that and figure something out. We are, however, willing and able to download your videos if they are hosted on the org or somewhere else online. If you would perfer this please reply with the name of your video and a link to where it can be downloaded. Also fill out the <a href="http://www.bakuretsucon.org/events/cont ... gistration Form and email it to me at franklinp@cvuhs.org

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I will make an effort to finish the video I spoke of in time for your contest deadline.

on the entry form, you ask for "Name, as you would like it to appear in the credits." does this mean you want the videos to be submitted without credits and you will the credits yourself? or is it ok to include our own credits at the end of our video?

also, can you clarify what you mean here: "To avoid cutting off some of your video when we re-record it make sure to leave about 15 seconds of blank tape at each end of the video." is this just for VHS entries, which will be captured onto a computer, or are you asking that digital copies also include blank space at the beginning and end of the video?

In the final product we create credits to be put before every video. If you would like to create your own credits certainly feel free to do so.

This does just apply to VHS entries. When these rules were created two years ago I think it was assumed that most entries would be VHS. Digital copies should be just fine without any blank space.
