I think you missed my point. The point I was trying to make is that when people put all they got into an AMV you can usually tell. Otherwise things get static or stagnant. There is nothing wrong with trying to win a prize, I just like to see people make AMV’s because they love to and don’t care if they win anything. Compare it to the current Hollywood scene, right now its all about effects, if you don’t have a movie full of effects nobody cares. Well except for a small minority.Radical_Yue wrote:As for me, I just recently started entering contests. And even though I love editing with every fiber of my being, I really want to win a prize. I am so tired of my family and friends telling me that AMV editing is a waste of time, and I want to prove to them I can actually do something right xD
Well when it comes down to it, it should be more about the spirit and fun of accomplishing something, who cares if it’s good or if you win any prizes. That’s why we have a award for spirit & effort.
Oh well enough of that.
Back to the contest.
Thanks to all of those who are willing to help us out. If you encounter any problems with the submission process please let me know, either here or on the contest’s forums.
Thanks a bunch
Adam

I’ll update as it gets closer to the deadline. So far we are still under 10 entries and 2 more that are pending.
As far as prizes go, we got some swag from all the anime companies. Stuff like DVD’s & such. We where planning on custom trophies, but that’s only if we exceed 30 entries.

I'll think about entering... that last paragraph on the rules section is kinda bogus. All though I HIGHLY doubt the con is a rip, the way that paragraph is worded just kind of gives you the feeling. I won't enter unless I can finish my amv on time but you don't have a horror category so thats another reason to reconsider. What's up with con's not having a horror category... It's not a very popular style for amv's but usually they are really creative and unique ;_;...
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

The only thing that might cause problems is this part of the rules:
Does your con not have a blanket copyright permission for video and audio used during the convention? I'm not sure about other venues, but this little blurb seems to be a bit odd in comparison to other contests I've seen.
By their very nature, AMVs DO infringe on alllllll sorts of rights. I would love to see an AMV where the editor has copyright permission both from the musical artist and the anime company.Anime Banzai Rules wrote:9.
