Nah, I don't think he meant kbps. 'Resolutions' and 'bits per second' are extremely different things. I don't think oropher would make that mistake.Autraya wrote:do you mean kbps?
yueah `cause rexmasters computer can encode so high that some people cant playback so that can be a potential hicup

Um, something tells me Vincent isn't planning on submitting a BluRay disc... And i would be slightly worried if your convention computer was incapable of displaying a .h264 video. Even with a high-resolution (especially since my dad's old IBM thinkpad R51 can play up to about 1280x720). But i think you need to be specific about whether or not your hardware can support certain entries.cooked_sashimi wrote:Standard DVD resolution is the international norm imo =)OropherZero wrote:Another question, how fast is the computer playing these entries? I don't want to set too high a resolution if you know... you get what I'm saying =P
Or you could give two copies of the same AMV in different resolutions. But to be honest, bluray hasn't even been standardized yet so standard DVD resolution is the way to go!
Let me pose a question, if all elements to this question are answered with an "OK" then i will submit the entry. But i doubt this will be the case.

+Okay, let's say i've made a video (finished september 18th 2006) - and it features two sources.
+One of these sources is downloaded HQ RAWs. (Makes up 20% of the video)
+Unfortunately RAWS were not always available and one FANSUB and only ONE fansub was used to fill a small portion of scenes. (The subtitles are not visible) - The quality is practically identical to that of the RAWs.
+The other is from Region 2 DVD straight from Japan. (Makes up 80%)
+Both sources have not been licensed in Australia.
+The video's length is just over 4mins.
+I would like to submit this video as an MP4 encoded with h.264.
+I purchased the CD i acquired the Audio from.
+It has previously competed in an Australian AMV contest but did not recieve an award. It did however finish as a runner-up.
+The final resolution would be 720x480 or 720x576 (I can't actually remember)
+The video has not yet been released on the ORG, but it is due to be released this April.
So tell me, would this video be allowed to compete in your competition?

Doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it but it depends on Jacky or bloodnok I guess.
Anyway I will most likely be submitting 848 x 480 MP4/H264 which is why I asked the question, but it should be fine in terms of playback... think only 1280 x 768 using the same codec and container will test the strength of the computer... Good luck to everyone who enters =O

too much shochu
I think i was vaguely offended by that but I'll go dreink some more
btw why do so many conventions ask for 720X?
I like the open to 4:3 or 16:9 without ruling it must be a certain size... but with the proviso that it will need to be displayed on a projector so higher res the better
new banzors in the making :p
