Okay let me explain something to you. If you are a Newbie AMV Creator, meaning you just started out wthin the past year then you are eligible.godix wrote:[I think you're missing the point. I'm not arguing because I think I should be allowed to enter, I'm arguing because I think I SHOULDN'T be allowed to enter and under your current rules I am. While I'm far from a pro I am not a newbie either and from what I can tell neither are most of the active members on the forums. There are VERY few people who fit all of your criteria and most of us who don't have no business entering a noob competition. Hell, as has already been pointed out, even Kevin Caldwell qualifies for this contest because he doesn't have an org login or his own homepage (or more than 10 videos that I know of, although I might be wrong on that one). I repeat, you desperately need to redefine your definition of 'pro'.
The point of this contest is to make this something that can really showcase the talent of Newbie AMV Creators.
But here's the deal, if you think you can enter the contest. Try it. Worse thing is if we feel you are not a Newbie, we'll reject you. In response to your Kevin Caldwell remark, I don't think anyone would ever consider him to be a noob. He's far from that. But hey, if you want to try to enter the contest, Godix. Go ahead. I see that your recently joined the org about a month ago and you have no videos. However, I don't know that you haven't been on winmx or irc or kazaa somewhere for years before that. Before I joined a-m-v.org I made my presence known on Winmx, Kazaa and IRC. Then I found a-m-v.org and decided it would be a good idea. Do I consider myself a newbie? No. I would also not consdier someone a newbie who was on Kazaa two years ago and just joined the org. What we want to see are people who are just starting out. People who usually are pushed around or rejected because of their newbie status. These are the people that we want to give the chance to.
This contest is only for people who have making vids within the past year. They are new and therefore, eligible for entry.
If you are going to nitpick the rules to death. Then fine. That's your right. However, the point here is to see what Newbies are made of and if they can indeed make a video that is likened to a pro.
Since I am only an organizer and not a judge for this tourny, I can honestly say there are people that show tremendous potential for greatness.
Thats what my team wants to see. We don't want the typical "noob" attitude we want to see people who can really pull off fantastic videos.
Thats all.

New AMV creators have just as much of a chance in anything else as some of the older amv creators. In fact I've seen some newer people that have pulled off some very nice stuff that could compete in any major amv contest.J.Alana wrote:Okay I stand corrected.
I take back that remark about Godix. I think I might have clicked the wrong profile and if I did that, I'm sorry.
But listen, the point here is give an opportunity to new amv creators.
This is what we want to do.
If most n00bs would stay away from the shitty cliche amvs and can showcase some skill they can make a name for themselves pretty quick.
