I sent them another email at a different address, letting them know I wasn't the only one who got overlooked. Since I'm going to be there I want them to show something of mine... but I'm not trying to be all high and mighty and say "your contest will suck because I'm not in it"... but who knows? This may be two... isolated cases. It could turn out awesome, or somehow they had so many entrants that the couldn't get around to answering our emails. Oh well... we'll see come May 17th.

I seriously doubt thats the case here. I have no problem waiting for another convention, but it would just be alot more convenient for me if I could do JaCon.
And yes Melee... the contest will suck without you being in it. Your Action AMV's are the best, and last years Yureka 7 w/ that 8 min song was amazing. I was looking forward to seeing what you put together for us this year since you always seem to please the crowd.
Hope you get yer AMV in on time. I'm gonna try for mine too, but if it can't I guess I'll skip Metro and wait till AFO. I'm not too big on MetroCon. I went there once, and everything was the same as JaCon, but it was Emo some how. Just remember... you can't spell "Metro" without "Emo".
EDIT - You know what would be a GREAT idea?? If they posted the FTP information up along with the rules for submitting an AMV. How much easier would that make things?

I don't know of any contests that do that. It would make them more vulnerable to random folks filling their server with garbage. At least with the request system, they have a list of the people who have the FTP info, so things like that are less likely to happen.superboi wrote:EDIT - You know what would be a GREAT idea?? Shame they've gotten backlogged on the requests this time, though. It could likely be a result of this year's venue change placing additional work on the coordinators, leaving them less time to keep up with the FTP submission stuff. That's understandable.

Mega Con let us upload as much as we wanted to their FTP server. They even set it up through their own site, but there was a bit of confusion on how to use it, and in my case it cut my upload short so most people just uploaded here and told them where to download it.
Seriously though. Whats stopping people from asking for the FTP server and then putting 20 gigs of midget porn onto their server once they have that information? If they can do that, then what difference will it make if the FTP information was made public?

A little late to this discussion I suppose. I guess I'm one of the few who are participating, despite really disliking the catagory names (OMGWTFBBQ? Cm'on that crap is old.) I had to rush to get anything done as I wasn't planning on entering but had decided to go, so I figured why not. Doubt I'll win anything this year though, my AMVs are not anything strong this time around.)
I ended up sending my two vids by mail, as I sent an email for the FTP info about 3 days before deadline, and I still haven't got anything!
Oh well. Good Luck to all who do enter!
