Last year they showed all of the entries during the award ceremony except for those with adult content.

The rules on AWA's page state that there is no guarantee that all the master entries will be shown due to time constraints. As the contest is now open to all (no previous wins required), I would assume there will be more entries and not enough time to show them all...

The way I see it, the only real difference now between Expo and Masters is in Masters there is only one winner and one primary judge...

notes:

1: we try to show at least one video from every person who submits that year.
2: if the only video you submit is a master's entry, then that video will be shown, no other complications withstanding.
3: depending on the AMV contest times, your video may not be shown during the actual contest, but will be shown in the VAT at some point.

Yea, the dates kinda suck but it's worth mentioning that they're pretty much on the same weekend as they were last year, and the year before, and the year before...

This is all despite the weekend the con lands on creeping further up the calendar in September. Meaning that, relative to the con itself, you actually have MORE time.

Oh, and the submission site (http://www.awa-vat.org) should be available again shortly. I've got some cleanup work to do to get the site ready for this year.

Maybe it makes me elitist, but this kinda takes some of the prestige outta masters for me :\
(I understand that it's probably to get more entries and make the contest more accessible, thus keeping the contest alive, but I still don't like it personally.)

Maybe so, but the idea is the best of the best will win either way. It's not likely that a rookie or someone who's not made anything strong enough before will take the win, but it doesn't really hurt to let them try. I do understand what you're saying about the prestige though.
