Do most kids under 13 know what it means to jizz in your pants? XDdeuceloosely wrote:What was most shocking to me was how an AMV using the song "Jizz in My Pants" made it into the contest which could potentially be viewed by younger than PG-13 viewers. In spite of my call for its disqualification (according to our rules), a video containing occasional watermarks was allowed into the finals for the NekoCon AMV contest. Is there some kind of loosening of the rules or situational "looking the other way" trending now? Because, otherwise, why do certain rules exist if they're not followed?

I've been under the impression, ever since I was that age myself, that yes, they do... O_oRinny wrote:Do most kids under 13 know what it means to jizz in your pants? And if they do know what it means they're already beyond any damage we could do.Rinny wrote:Do most kids under 13 know what it means to jizz in your pants? Yeah. If they don't know what it means to jizz in your pants, the video's not gonna do any damage. If they do already know, it's too late and the video's not gonna do any damage.freya13 wrote:And if they do know what it means they're already beyond any damage we could do.Rinny wrote:Do most kids under 13 know what it means to jizz in your pants? In that case, the parents in attendance probably don't want to have to deal with their kids asking them afterwards what it means (you know at least some of them would).Rinny wrote:If they don't know what it means to jizz in your pants, the video's not gonna do any damage.

...never mind the embarrassment of their kids going around singing the song in public, whether or not they know what it means. Anyway, according to the logic of some of you, why not just open the floodgates on ALL obscenities? No harm done if they don't know what it means or if they already do, right?

...so why bother putting those rules in place if they're gonna be ignored? I'd say "let's just make this AMV contest a "blue" event since it seems to be headed that way," but that's a little extreme. Anyway, I'm hoping for some official kind of word from the coordinators on this matter. I know I'm not the only one out there who couldn't believe that song "passed" the obscenity rule...Rinny wrote:Exactly! Re: Anime USA 2009 Unofficial Results
I've always understood that even if the rule is not written down that the coordinator reserves the right to enforce or not enforce any rule for any reason they feel appropriate.
Specifically, the rule for this convention was that offensive language, violence, or nudity would not be allowed. Offensive language is a rather subjective thing, since one person may find something offensive (such as curse words) while another might not. The Jizz in my Pants song, personally, I don't find the language offensive, and taking the rule wording literally I would not disqualify the video myself because the video doesn't raise the offensive language flag for me.
The truth is the rule is in fact worded in such a way that there can be multiple takes on it's meaning, and none would be wrong persay. In the end it is how the coordinator interprets the rule and then enforces that interpretation that matters. And apparently from my understanding it seems the interpretation is quite literal.
