My plan is to see if I have a new video edited by the end of the month, and if so, I'll send that. If not, I'll consider my options, and I'll send something else.

i also had a few quality issues with some of the scenes in the 2nd submisison due to the way it had to be converted so i hope its ok to not get disqualified.
You can use 7-zip, a free compression program that I also use. It offers (.zip) compression. I don't remember if using (.rar) caused any problems uploading to the server, but try to get them in (.zip) if you can, otherwise if they're already sent in using (.rar), that should be ok.

Where have you been? You know this is OUR time of the year to get ready for A-KON! Ok, we kind of started accepting submissions rather late in the game, but you've still got time. Hell, put something together for H-Fest! We'll Show it.

If you know for sure you plan to submit a video, remember to Register before May 2, so we know to expect your submission. You will be allowed 7 more days to complete your video and upload it to us.

Orly? Okay, I shall register now. I will send something, I just don't know yet what.

EDIT: Doubt I have a proxy to name, and I am not attending. I just flew back to Dallas two weeks ago from Japan. Can't do it for Akon. Not enough money, not enough vacation.

question. do we just need to register for the website and not the con itself?

Our registration through the VSE website is for submitting to the Video Contests, NOT the convention itself. So, yes, you just need to register for the AMV Events.

I've already submitted two AMVs for the contest, but if you're lacking in a certain category (need more drama videos, more action, ect.), then I can replace one or both of them to balance the entry genres. Was it like this when I entered last year as well?

We mix up the categories for presentation - to keep the show interesting - so it really doesn't matter what "category" genre you want to enter. Generally we either get lots of Action or Drama, because those are the two most popular people like to create. I don't know what the breakdown is between categories, right now, so just send whatever and however many videos you can. In truth, there is a lot of cross-over these days.

? "However many videos"? I was under the impression that one could only enter 2 in the Standard category. Or am I once again befuddling myself with the fine print?

So, how are the submissions looking now? Enough for a decent show?
