In all seriousness, it really has nothing to do with popularity or who has the best poster, but who people think will do a good job. Being a judge means watching each video seriously, not favoring or hating the music, anime or creator and seeing it for its good and bad aspects.

If it's a "popularity" contest to choose the judges, then it becomes no different then the VCAs...

Let's have fun without turning this contest into a joke. >.>

As for judge nominations. I'd like to have the chance to be a judge based on my know-how, honesty, and unbias with videos/sources/editors. Either way, there are alot of good reliable editors on the list so hopefully we get a balanced panel regardless of if I'm nominated or not.

But cmon. Vote for teh VNS. You know you want to. :P

Of the ones that have a chance I don't think any of them shouldn't be a judge. So while the voting is a popularity contest (and AFAIK done just to prevent 'all the judges were koop's friends' type bitching) the results will probably end up with decent people.

As far as the posters, I figure there's no need to seriously try for votes. I've been around the site for years now, people already know me. [...] The same is true of most others, the ones who might seriously get picked are the ones well established on the org where everyone has long ago formed their opinions of them. So I figure have fun with the pimping because it doesn't really make a difference at all.

Oh, you do realize the only reason somebody thought to nominate me is because my name has Judge in it? Amiright? :P

mkay, well, no amusing graphics from me...

I wouldn't personally vote for me, however someone did nominate me, so therefore I feel I should contribute something that highlights why they did so - namely that I enjoy analyzing the hell out of everything:

BAGGAGE: If one can't evaluate an AMV and pass judgment on its merit without succumbing to personal baggage, then one shouldn't be stepping into the arena that is, apparently, meant to do AWAY with all the personal baggage that the VCAs carry.

IGNORANCE: Lack of baggage does not a good judge make. One needs the ability to appropriately and accurately describe an AMV's merits and faults, aka have the knowledge necessary to participate in an intelligent discussion about the technical, artistic and conceptual aspects of an AMV.

INFAMY: A panel of judges made up of individuals who have less than stellar reputations, deserved or not, does not exactly give this contest the elite image it is, apparently, trying to achieve. If it's going to get any respect as something other than a showcase for a popularity poll, then the panel of judges had better reflect that.

I agree with what several people have said about the final panel probably being comprised of individuals who will do a decent job of judging the AMVs. There will no doubt be people equally capable of being judges who will not be on that panel, however, since it's up to the same people evaluating the VCAs to evaluate who will be a worthy judge. :( :x
