How does seating work for editors going to Otakon? Do we wait in line or is there a list with our names on it that gives us preferred seating?

Everyone who sent in an entry for consideration and did not get disqualified will receive 2 leet Editor's Badges. (Those that sent in entries that fell under the "anti-troll"/"maidens only" rule will still get these badges, as long as you didn't get DQed.

You get them in "AMV Ops" when you arrive at the convention. I believe there are certain times when AMV Ops will be open so that you can pick up those badges.

The badges allow you to skip the line at the AMV contest showings (Friday and Saturday) as well as for Iron Editor. The badges give you preferred seating in Video 1 for the contest.

Drabaz: I think you will like what I have this year for my DBZ block on Friday morning at 11:00 AM. I have a bunch of stuff I discovered that really impressed me.

Thanks for the info Jeremy! Yea, I'll definitely be at that panel and I'll bring friends! Also, I remember a couple years ago I tried getting into the main AMV contest during the showing, but because the room was full I wasn't aloud in. I didn't have an AMV in the contest, so I was just a regular attendee. Is that the norm for the contest? I ask just because I wanted to catch the Funimation panel that ends in the middle of the Saturday showing of the AMV contest. (Otakon's the last chance Funi has to announce any Dragon Ball Super stuff so I GOTTA be there...)

I know, right? I'm hoping I can stay long enough at the FUNi's Industry Panel on Saturday afternoon for me to hear the announcements! (I'm scheduled for the Saturday contest showing starting at 4:15 in the AMV Theater.)

p.s. I most likely will be live-tweeting the AMV Contest results (runner-up and winner) as they are announced on Saturday night. Keep an eye out (@BrakusJS).

As long as you still keep the "no prior wins" rule, I feel that the contest will maintain its freashness and continue to be the convention where numerous AMVs premiere at every summer. I feel that this adjustment will only make the contest better because it will allow editors to take risks and not just play it safe. By having the option of a 2nd entry, editors can send in videos that they may not feel have the best odds of making finals, but they would still like to give a chance. This will also ensure that you get enough entries to make the contest as strong as possible
I second this. I think having two limiting rules like that is just a little much. I LOVE the fact this con has a rule where a video cannot have won a major award in the past, but the fact we are also limited to just one entry takes a lot of the experience out for me because I just feel like it is always such a huge ultimatum decision, and, idk, I just think it would be more enjoyable as a whole for a lot of the participants to be able to submit two videos.

I most certainly object to "multiple submissions". I feel like it'd be a disadvantage people like me who can only manage to make one or two videos per year.

Even with the one-video restriction, Otakon always seems to have some of the highest-quality submissions out of the various contests. In the worst case, there are plenty of other contests where multiple submissions are allowed. I don't see why Otakon has to join those other contests.

Otakon is relatively unique in allowing only one submission, and as far as I can tell... it has never really had issues with "too few" entries. I would suggest that the submission limit be bumped up ONLY if the number of submissions drops significantly.
