Yes, yours was fairly well put together, and the only one with any decent lip-synching (which scored big points with me). But congratulations to Immortalarena. Even without lip-synching, it was a pretty good concept.

I just thought I'd take this opportunity to present this link to my 3-weeks late Round 16 entry which I decided to finally make, after no one went with the concept I thought was so obvious for this song. I felt it still needed to be done, and done before it got to be too late. You'll have to excuse to use of Excel Saga again, I was working on a full length ES video at the time of round 16, and was in an excel-saga kind of place I guess :P (Also kind of explains why I would think the concept I used should have been obvious)

And now we all await the final round :P

Crap...

guess the concept wasn't quite well-represented enough in my entry. Thinking on it, I can kinda see how it would appear that way.

Oh well,...here it is.

Okay. Back up the bandwagon here. There is a serious problem with this contest. I know we live in the age of being nice to everyone and supportive blah, blah, blah. I'm not against that, but I think that sometimes it takes a brutally honest person to just come out and say the truth that everyone is secretly hiding. Yeah, yeah. I know I'm probably going to get razzed or yelled at for flaming, but here is my fifteen minutes of anger, so here we go:

Immortalarena, I fully intend to sound like a sore loser here (I'm very upset). Myself, my online circle of friends and my college anime club friends all think that your submission SHOULD NOT HAVE WON. Now, I'm going to list the reasons:

1. Bad image quality (the frames skip several times in places that don't make sense. We're still debating whether it was bad compression or you were trying to make the video follow the beat of the music).

2. NO SHORT SHORTS! This is the biggest clincher. Your video had no short shorts in it. End of discussion.

3. Bad lip-syncing. Myself and my friends counted three separate incidents of lip-syncing being a whole TWO SECONDS OFF. One second is bad enough. If you can't lip-sync, don't try. It just ruins the video.

4. Simply not funny. The only thing that makes this even remotely funny is if you understand the anime (which I do, but most of my friends don't). You watch it, you stare, and you're disappointed.

In conclusion, I think that Haunter103's concept was spectacular. I never expected to see Excel in there. Great job, especially with the lip-syncing.

By the by, here is the submission that I slaved over for five days:

Who is this "everyone?" And I don't think anyone here has anything against "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything" policy.

The only opinions that matter here are those of the judges and perhaps the community at large here on this thread at "the org." It's real easy to play armchair quarterback when you haven't seen every entry for this round (which was another tough one, and I agree the winners shouldn't be left to choose the music for the contest).
1. Bad image quality (the frames skip several times in places that don't make sense. We're still debating whether it was bad compression or you were trying to make the video follow the beat of the music).
I didn't notice that being as much of a problem as you make it out to be. Looked okay to me, anyway...
2. NO SHORT SHORTS! This is the biggest clincher. Your video had no short shorts in it. End of discussion.
This, to me, is nit-picking. I think the concept was well-enough represented that it deserved to win as much as anything else I've seen entered to this point. You're taking the lyrics too literally, methinks. My original idea was to piece together a bunch of FMA clips representing how short Edward is next to everyone else, but I think my final idea worked better. The idea is to have fun with this.
3. Bad lip-syncing. Myself and my friends counted three separate incidents of lip-syncing being a whole TWO SECONDS OFF. One second is bad enough. If you can't lip-sync, don't try. It just ruins the video.

Again, you're nit-picking...and perhaps exaggerating the point a stretch. None of the syncing was anywhere near as far off as you proclaim. The entry in question was as well-synced as most anything else I've seen come from this entire contest.
4. Simply not funny.

I left the rest out because it came across as kind of mean-spirited. No, it wasn't really funny, but this song was, as I mentioned before, a tough one. The past few rounds were really difficult to find much humor with, but remember the other descriptive which stands as criteria for judging: entertaining.

That's as may be, but I feel the truly deserving entrant won that round (16). It was very funny.

Not to be a hypocrite or anything, but what makes your entry any better than the winner's? Seriously...it wasn't funny, either. I mean, no matter how long you might have worked on a piece, if it's mediocre then all the time in the world invested in its creation won't change that fact. I only spent maybe an hour on mine and I think it turned out quite well. But that's just my opinion...

and you're certainly entitled to yours. Let's just not continue the ripping on others' efforts 'lest you care to have the same ill wind blowing down your door.

Just saying...

Well I use http://www.myfilehut.com/ you get 250MB storage space for free. The bandwith is 1GB each month although for some reason mine extended to 10GB without me asking (hehe). Well I needed the bandwith for my podcast.
I got my signature removed for being too big. even though I've had the same picture since the AMV Hell CE was going on. In fact back then it was bigger! Ah well, I hardly post on here anyway!

I was thinking about doing more than one entry for this contest, with other shows. Right after I thought that, I realised that as I had already sent most of my anime home for the summer (including most of my fansubs) I was really limited in options.

I'll get a look at the others if I get a chance, but meanwhile here's mine.

Yeah, yeah. I had my little tantrum and I'm satisfied. I'll stop ragging on people. However, I felt your comments all had good merit save the last one. I still laugh at my entry whenever I watch it (and so do my friends). I mean, here's the concept:

I TOLD A STORY:
1. Bando (the guy in black) asks: "Who wears short shorts?"
2. Then, Nyu (the cute girl with the long red hair) admits: "We wear short shorts!"
3. So in the next scene, Bando kidnaps her!
4. Then he complains: "They're such short shorts..." with a disappointed face.
5. In the next scene, Nyu has found something in the sand.
6. We find out that it's a gun! And she says: "We like short shorts." And she shoots Bando.
7. Bando is prostrate on the beach and says: "Who wears short shorts?"
8. Then he reaches up asking for forgiveness or maybe to get his hands on the short shorts.....
9. Nyu finishes off: "We wear short shorts."

Brilliant! I know I'm sounding arrogant when I say this, but this is one of my sharpest moments artistically in quite a while.

My Round 19 entry:

Personally, I think this character is the poster-child for this song, yet it didn't win....

Oh, well...

(btw, my round 10 entry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkAsGkbLUuU
if anyone's interested)

Marlin Beta: No offense, but I must agree with deuceloosely - (imho) your part is not funny... And the fact you have to explain, what is the joke you were trying to create, only proves it.

And while I am at it... I can't understand why some people make a big fuss over which entries should won, and which shouldnt. Geez... This is just for fun, not for million dolair cheque. :< Chill out, take it more lightly.:] And think for a moment, that if the judge have chosen some entry, then for him it was the funniest.
