The AWA 2015 Professional Awards Video Review Thread

I still think both the Most Fun category should remain, as I think the whole selection of Fun & Upbeat videos were the strongest bunch of videos in the contest, and we already voted it as a category, and nominated videos for it to begin with. I know I am not the only one that feels this way. Would have been nice to see some of the people voting differentiate the Fun & Upbeat categories better, as I know a few others and I could see a clear difference b/w the two. If it was gonna be this way, it would have been nice to atleast seen the award been something also deserving of a category like Psych or Horror.

Also, are the rankings only for solving a tiebreaker ? Or does it actual effect what wins overall ?

Probably a stupid question, but when we're ranking these, 1 means I liked that video best of the five on there, and 5 is my least favorite, correct? Golf scores?

My opinion mimics this. 4 of 5 of the best in show videos are in upbeat so I feel like they would deserve another category to spread the love a bit.

You are correct. You can also think of it as ranking them from top to bottom. You can drag, if you like, instead of using the drop-downs.

If you are voting to "spread the love", you're not voting each category on its own merits. That is not the intent of this contest, in my opinion, for what that's worth. You are, of course, welcome to vote however you choose.

I dont vote in that manner, but I legitimately have different rankings of the video for both of the categories, and honestly, I feel like the end result will likely be different as well. I vote for the video I feel best fits its category and that isnt at all what I was saying. I was just saying if there is a really high concentration of strong videos in similar categories, it makes sense for both of them to become categories. I am sorry you misinterpreted what I was saying because that wasn't what I was trying to say at all.

I did really consider this. "Best Timing" was a very worthy category that fell below the cut, however I did not have any way of running a round of nominations for a new category, and any other way of selecting finalists would have been capricious and arbitrary (and not well received I'm sure).

The rules this year state the director breaks ties and this hasn't changed. What has is, if you provide a ranked list, I can consider your opinions in making a decision. If this is well received and a popular 'feature' of the contest, I may amend the rules next year to be more specific on how the ranked tally can be used. It didn't work. It was identical to another category. It will never return. If this is a problem, I suggest finding another contest, as I don't allow rephrased and duplicate categories in this one. I would have LOVED it to be a different category, but it wasn't because I foolishly listened to you instead of striking it as I knew I should and letting the next category down the list run.
