Format AMV:\? (Y/N)

Post by Ashyukun » Wed Sep 25, 2002 8:18 am

What the hey, since I just finished re-mastering one of ours I may as well enter it. One thing that isn't stated in the rules- what will be the format/resolution that you will be converting the videos to? As I have the full-res master version, I may as well submit the video such that you don't have to re-encode it.

I hope that it goes over well... it's kind of the opposite of what is normally done in AMVs (technically, not content-wise), and while the few people who have seen it have really liked it, I don't know if AMV purists will even count it as an AMV. :p

Ikasu wrote:lol....Thank god I atleast got one reply....And no...You don't have to be at the contest...We ship prizes to those who can't make it if thet cannot get a proxy as well...This is a legitimate contest and we need submissions...I'm going to be putting a LOT of time into capturing the vhs tapes I receive, editing, encoding.....This contest is going to be a pain in the ass for me but I just want it to be successful...But for that to happy I need submissions.

I'm just glad that you are willing to submit...=D...

I would be more than happy to send in a couple of vids in that case, I just didnt want to be a lame ass and send in vids when I wasnt planing (or rather, just cant) attend, especially since you guys are putting so much work into the prizes and setup.
Ill have my vids in right after AWA is over, and good luck with this guys :D

Thank you very much everyone...And it seems everything is falling into place...

Ashyukun: I'm sorry to say that no matter what I will have to work on all the submissions that make it to the finals....I am actually taking the time to add the csun logo and name of creator/video before each video...and make short 20 second previews when voting time comes around...This isn't going to be just any normal contest....It's going to be held like an actual pro contest...but run by the fans..=P....But I've been doing video work for 3 years now....I know enough and trust me no submission will have a loss in quality....I promise that...The way the files are received is how they are going to be displayed...but just adding the logo for the contest before and after every vid with the information needed....

Ohhh...almost forgot....any resolution about 320 by 240 will be fine...the larger the resolution the better it will look...But that only is if your soure file is a large resolution...It wouldn't be too much of a good idea taking a 320 by 240 source and stetching it to let's say 720 by 480....=P

So were my videos ok? Are they going to be ok? Did you want me to 'mail' you the hire res ones? >_< Well, I guess they're ok... since you haven't complained or said anything to me about them. 8)

Ikasu wrote:...and about that 6 minute limit....when I think about it a few of my videos are above 6 minutes...so I'm bumping it up to 7 minutes so you can still submit =D
Really? That's great^_^ So now I'll be entering that video for sure... Now I just have to find a good way to add black and convert all of my videos into mpeg's...

After I finish this video I'm currently making, I'll ftp two drama vids and one fun/upbeat vid along with the entry form. I hope the contest is a success... it's too bad I can't be there in person  .

I guess the only reason that last thread didn't take off is because castor started it...Damn you castor!...Damn you to hell!....hahaha...Just messin'....

Satori: Thank you for your future submission....And yes...DMXRider....You talked to me and are at the moment...heh...

Silver Moon: The 15 seconds of black is only for VHS submissions...Did I forget to state that in the rules?...For Data submissions it is not required...
