They way I've deciphered the Momiji Challenge (through enough questions to Bradley to make him scream lol) is tha it's run like this: The video must be exactly 1 minute long from the time the video/audio starts, to the time it ends. During that 1 minute, you must create a video that flows like any other AMV, only much shorter (like, you can't just cut a on minute section out of an existing AMV, because that simply wouldn't 'flow').
And then, if the video is over/under 1 minute, you get docked marks per second.

Yeah, you can edit the audio however you want for a one minute video. For example I took a song that was 1:15 and cut out 2 solos from it, you could just as easily cut out some verse or chorus, but the more noticable the cuts the less points you'll probably score. I used a not well known song also hoping that since it's the first time people hear it they probably won't notice anything is missing.

IK not to for the 1-minute challenge, but should I put an intro into before my AMV? I have never entered a contest before so I don't know any of the technical rules.
Also, If anyone remembers from last year, what video's won in the different catagories? I need to know because I don't know how good my video is and need something to compare it too. Don't want to accidentally join the novice and beat everyone silly, and I don't want to join the normal catagory if all of them are going to beat me silly

Trust me, I was as unsure as you are. This is only my second con. However, the advice I was given, is to look at your own skills, and then weigh them against the Novice and Open categories. If you think your video portrays well one of the 4 'characteristics' being marked in the Open category, then enter it there. But if you're unsure of how you stand up, or if how well your wor is percieved by others, then I would suggest the Novice, as it allows more room for newer or lesser recognized creators to showcase their work with others of a similar level of experience.infernal0321 wrote:IK not to for the 1-minute challenge, but should I put an intro into before my AMV? Well I checked out the AMV's from last year and still have no clue where to enter my vid. Would it be safe to show others on this website my vid before the competition and they could direct me towards the right catagory?
Edit: Ok, this I find odd. I just watched the novice winner and runner-up's AMVs. Thing I find wierd is I feel I could beat the Winner but not the runner up.... odd.....

This is just my opinion, but I don't think you should have someone here watch your video and then tell you whre to put it. You know your work better than anyone else, and so you should follow your gut feeling about what to enter it as (Open or Novice). Otherwise, you're entering the video under someone elses critical views on your video, rather than how you personally think it would do.
For example, you could show me your video, and I wuld choose either the Open or the Novice. But my choice has nothing to do with the video, because my critical views are being applied to the decision. And my critical views aren't necessarily the same as your own.
You really need to judge your video based on your opinions and how confident you are in your own work. People can clarify what each category entails to help you mak your decision, but you need to choose on your own which of the categories to enter.
