True the deadline was May 8th but it was announced way back in Late November or Early December compared to Late Janurary. So you actually had an extra month or so last year compared to this year. Last year was actually better plus the only reason it is May 19th this year is because Otakon is 3 weeks later this year. So last year you really had more time.Scintilla wrote:Yes it did -- last year it was something like May 8th.Ashyukun wrote:I think the biggest ritual for many of us this year will be complaining about the fact that while the con itself is nearly a month later than last year, the contest deadline didn't change at all.

I dont feel like starting a new topic but this is related to otakon so ill just do it here.
The otakon amv contest rules say "Please submit only music videos that have not already won awards or prizes at other conventions' AMV contests. We don't mind it if a music video happens to be submitted to multiple conventions (including ours) all at the same time, but it's bad form to send out an AMV that you know has already gotten prior recognition elsewhere (this practice has become known as "Trolling for Prizes")."
What exactly do they defin all at the same time as. Cuz i already sent in my otakon submission but was wonderin if i could send it into Kunicon. Thats much earlier than otakon, but when i sent in my otakon vid it hadnt won anything. Theres also the fact that i highly doubt i would win at kunicon.

If they receive a video that has won an award somewhere else, they'll check to see WHEN they received the video and compare it to when the video won the other award. If they received the video before it won something, then it's all good. (I had this exact situation last year.)tuathaanwarrior wrote:The otakon amv contest rules say "Please submit only music videos that have not already won awards or prizes at other conventions' AMV contests.
