Wow, so you guys do that stuff for every video, even if it's not getting in? oo;

Miracle: We don't know what's getting in until it's screened, so every submission is handled with the utmost care from the start.

Dragonsong: Your flattery has been noted and will be held into consideration when the time comes to determine the finalists ;-)

Ha! And if I thought that was true for even half a second, I wouldn't bother entering. 8-)

Luckily, AUSA has taught me otherwise. That's one of the things I like so much about it, there seems to be very little of the favoritism that plagues most cons. I've never won there, incedentally, and I still love entering it because each time I lost I could honestly look at the winner and say "yes, THAT one deserved it." And while you'll have little control over the outcome of the contest since Otakon still uses the audience vote format, right? I feel confident that if my video DOES happen to get to the finals, it'll be because you actually thought it belonged there.
Otakon always has steep competition though, so we'll see.

I just like to give credit when I think it's due. :D

Just hoping everything works out and that Otakon has an actual AMV contest this year. Wouldn't be the same without it!

I intend to enter a video but, am almost certain I will not be in attendance at otakon... would it be possible to be notified after the pre-screening if it makes it in... It is not an easy thing for me to go this year as I am working 2 full time jobs. However, if I have a competing video... I may be more willing to jump through some hoops to make the trip happen... I pre-screen and count votes for AB's AMV contest so I understand all about AMV contest confidentiality and all.... But, I figured couldn't hurt to at least ask.

Cheers

After all of the prescreenings have concluded and the scores have been tallied, the finalists will be listed in a separate thread on this forum. However, it looks like the prescreenings will not conclude until mid-July, so you may not have much time to arrange a trip if you're coming from far away. We are working on two prescreening sessions at this time, but nothing has been finalized yet.

Try the Broadcast Colors effect. Although the one time that I used this, it was taking so long that I just canceled the render. It's faster to just go through your video clip by clip fixing problem areas which are actually easy to identify.
Another way is to make an AVS file that contains the following:

Code: Select all

AVISource("C:\yourlosslessfile.avi")
converttoyv12()
ColorYUV(levels="PC->TV")
This is potentially faster, because you can just use Avisynth to frameserve in TMPGEnc.
