Given the power and authority of Otakon's lawyers over how that con is run, I highly doubt they'd allow something like that to happen when they go apeshit over fanart and movie trailers.

I'm fine if money isn't involved, but I'd have thought a con celebrating its 20th year wouldn't even suggest such a thing. You obviously have something to lose if shit with the RIAA went down.

Well, we got a budget this year and we were just trying to come up with something "more" than the usual. Plus the winners who are not present don't get any free givaways, so they get short changed. Anyway, I just got off the phone with Chris and he's fine with keeping things "traditional" and playing it safe. Any ideas for alternative Prizes (or sponsors willing to pitch in) are welcomed.

AMA did gift cards to Best Buy (I got some source with mine ), but I agree with Bashar. Thinpacks are always welcome, even if it's not an anime I would choose for myself, or even watch for that matter, I still use them in video projects.

Any A-Kon branded stuff would be cool too - t-shirts, lanyards, etc. As for gift certificates, what about a cert for Right Stuff? That can be emailed to the winner or printed to hand out at the con. Emailing a prize is a lot cheaper than shipping one.

and was the limit one or 2 vids, i think the rules said 1 but the rules also said the videos were due in 08'
