I had like half a terrabyte of VOBs and full-quality AVI clips before I was done with my video- but most of my AVS files weren't put into Premiere, I just used VDub to export the sections I wanted and then used those in the actual editing in Premiere.Kusoyaro wrote:Hrm...I wonder if that's easier than putting my AVS files in Premiere and individually rendering Huffyuv files of the clips I want (which is what I did for my Pro video...I had something like 60 GB worth of Huffyuv clips).dokidoki wrote:After ripping VOBs, I use MPEG2Cut to get the pieces I want and discard the rest.

Storage is so cheap now I just keep everything now. I worry more about recovery.
What I do now is make all the huffy clips in VDub but using the job list. You can then save the job list to a text file. Now I can import the clips into AE and I can recreate the whole video from the sources if necessary from just the job list, the AE project file, and my avs files. I actually had to do this once after a crash.
Another advantage of the job list is that I can tweak the filters in the avs and regenerate all the clips if I want - a variation on 'bait and switch' technique.
