Hm, 90... I actually feel better about this now. I wasn't THAT far off the mark.
Now what could I do differently next time...

I look at it like this. Just because you may not have gotten the vote, it doesn't mean people didn't enjoy the video. You could have just been a lot of people's #2. Don't be discouraged and just keep competing.

Eh, I'm not too concerned about the actual votecount itself, though I guess it's nice to know that there were at least 50 people out there who thought my comedy was the best shown that evening.
I'm a bit curious about the Judges Choice and Con Chair award. I always find those choices fascinating, because they almost never coincide with the popular vote, and sometimes pick some really obscure yet cool stuff.

I love Katsucon for having such a wealth of judge awards. I really do think that the audience can miss stuff, and really good or well thought out AMVs can just go by without people batting an eye. To have 3 different, non-audience awards gives (at least theoretically) 3 different videos the chance to get recognition in a way they deserve, whether or not the audience noticed.Davis 51 wrote:I'm a bit curious about the Judges Choice and Con Chair award. I'm actually always relatively curious about the best in show votes. I've seen the process of in category voting played out before, but I've never seen a list of just how the AMVs all stacked against each other for the ultimate winner. Not sure it's bad that I haven't seen it, though.

This just makes me want to come up with something better for next year. Though I did get 17 more votes then I thought I was going to get for my comedy entry

The winner for Coordinator's choice was "Pray For A Gurren Soul To Eat" by RainingMadness.Deuce Loosely wrote: COORDINATOR CHOICE: "Speed Over Soul Eater" by EimiJ7
The reason the coordinator picked it was because he liked how the two series that were used blended together.

You have coordinator's choice wrong. The winner was Pray For a Gurren Soul to Eat by Raining Madness (Jeff Piscitello)
I know this because I was in the car ride home with him and held onto the trophy for him while he drove.

And thanks for that bit of info.
It was what I needed to remember who else won which award.
The results have been modified to reflect that.
There will be flag-waving ninjas on the way to you as soon as I get the money from treasury.
BTW, I was informed that these trophies were hand-made.
Next year I'm bringing back the Crystal Katsu...
