My 2 cents.
While I'm not against this contest in any way, I would like to say that almost any real amv contest at major conventions are open to ANYBODY, noobs and "pros" alike.
It's by nature that anyone with experience will definitely have an advantage over people who don't. Sorry, that's just the way the world works, not just in amvs, but in sports, video games, poetry, pie eating, etc...
Newbie amv creators have as much chance of getting their videos shown like anyone else at most established conventions. Otakon, AWA, and Akon for example are 3 huge conventions that show nearly everything. I know you want to help newbies get exposure and that's perfectly fine...
But the fact is that newbies do have chances to get exposure and they are not looked down on or oppressed as much as you think. Just because a few newbies are opposed on the .org, doesn't mean they're opposed everywhere. I kinda see where you want to go with this contest but any noob that takes the effort to improve and works hard will be ok.
Like everyone else has been saying, noobs have as much chance to make it out there as everybody else. So don't worry...
noobs will be ok

Having entered both Otakon and the AWA Expo last year (= my first year on the Org), I fully support this statement.trythil wrote:How does this contest give newbies more recognition than any other contest? Your reasons so far have been nothing but empty hand-waving. I would think that a newbie would have much more to gain, and nothing more to lose, by entering a more prestigious, established contest such as Otakon's or AWA Pro / AWA Expo.

I think I'll take the option of silent victory, as it's quite clear, from your inability to refute anything that I've said, that I have won.J.Alana wrote: I'm not arguing this point with you any longer. This contest will go on. You either have the option to shut up or continue to complain which will fall upon deaf ears.
Which is it going to be?

I seriously don't mean anything by this, I just find this pic hilarious, and your post reminded me of it. Don't take it wrong though, I agree with every point you've made tryhil.

You know I respect you and I respect your intentions. I appreciate your opinion and I thank you for your comments.
To anyone else, it was never my intent to make people angry with this contest. What's the saying, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions?" That was the intention here. We wanted to create something good, not bitter or mean spirited.
This idea is not mine alone. It came from four other people because we all thought that it would be nice to have a tourny specifically designed for New AMV Creators. I agree with you that no other contest restricts one person from entering and perhaps, I myself made a mistake when I wrote down the definition of pro. So you know what we what we did. We revised the rules on www.jpproductoinsonline.cjb.net so that it was clearer what the entry requirements would be.
I did not mean to offend or hurt anyone's feelings when I said "no pro's need not apply." I may have offended some people and for that I am sorry. I am not a mean spirited person and I myself have been a tad rough to others earlier to day. To those people I apologize.
Tempers flare easy when there is a controversy but in my opinon, I would rather like to fix what is wrong then fight and argue and place blame. Please note that anyone who wants to enter this tourny it is designed specifically for new amv makers. Requirements have been changed so that there is a better understanding of who will be allowed into the contest.
Myself and the other people involved in this contest only wanted to do a good thing and nothing bad.
I apologize for any wrongful comments I may have said earlier and I have taken your suggestions to heart.
I'm not a person who is so rigid that I do not look at all sides of an issue. I discussed this issue with other people involved in the contest and we think the simpler the solutions the better the outcome.
Please check www.jpproductionsonline.cjb.net for details on the Great Noob Tourny.
