The Linkin Park/Naruto video is DAMN good. If you're "damning" it b/c of the source then that's quite childish of you. The video was done by (imo) one of the best action editors in the entire community (Senta Miller who if I remember correctly, *won* the action cateogry last year at Otakon hmmmmmm) and I DO agree that it deserves to be in the contest. Hell, I gave it a 5 out of 5 and I'm sure other editors did as well since it was a well-edited, well-paced and well-done video. Regardless of the source.

Off-topic, but yes, I *do* believe Senta Miller is one of the best action editors out there with Fluxmeister. I think Fluxy is a better "beat" and "fast-paced" editor while Senta has a better grasp of "flow" and "pacing" which was demonstrated in his Naruto/Linkin Park video.

Now again, perhaps I sound hypocritical given my first post and how I *am* surprised a few vids didn't get in, but let's please not turn this into a huge argument about things that quite frankly, are subjective. The Otakon ML threads are getting QUITE ridiculous.
Let me clarify, as I said in the quote you used, I'm NOT damning it b/c its linkin park, in fact I don't hate the vid at all, I'm just quite surprised that it got in while phenomenon didn't. The only reason I made the remark is to pre-empt any comments from any that haven't seen the vid and assume it isn't original because its linkin park with Naruto.

Futhermore, I happen to agree with you that Senta Miller is one of the greats, but I was going on the basis of video, not name. Perhaps this thread is getting a bit ugly, I only posted to express my concern over the contest as it now stands and the possible future of the contests (on which I'll make no definite prediction) based on my own opinion nothing more. If it was taken as imflamatory I apologize. I'm content to leave it at that.

I was wondering how long it would take you to say something to that effect. :D

Re: 5 videos per category. As an audience member, I already have to sit on hard plastic chairs for two hours after waiting in line for another hour, dealing with some nimrod who keeps trying to cut in front of me every time the line turns and one next to me in the audience who keeps creeping into my personal space.

I do not want to sit on those damn chairs for an extra hour just to soothe some stranger's fragile ego. If I wanted to marathon six hours of AMVs, I'd do it at home in my nice comfy desk chair, with something to drink, and no lines.

Five is enough to give the voters a choice, but not so much that they forget video #1 by the time video #10 is over. It's enough that we get a taste of what's out there without having to sit through an encyclopedic rundown of The Year in AMV. Five is enough.

And as for "wah wah Dancing Vash wah wah lowest common denominator wankity-wank"? Some of us can hear you, y'know. ;)

1) No one's saying that videos that cater to the fans are a problem; after all, the convention does it too

2) There was no dancing Vash in any of the videos submitted this year. :P
