I had my match at midnight XD Let's make it like 6PM roughly in our neck of the woods which would mean Brad is getting up about 5 in the morning or so

Just to whoever wrote that, I didnt mean to whine or insult the Judges, I just wanted to state that I disagree eith the result, but That's their Decision, so I can't change it anway.QC wrote:whining on the forums never helps your case and just makes you look like a poor loser.
It really seems like Opinions differ here a lot anyways, since i got like a bunch of people that told me I should have won, while others say Dokool should have won.
Dokool and I edited pretty different Videos to the same Song.
I gotta admit, There were some scenes in his Vid that really got me.
0:23 - 0:26 I tried the same Thing in my Video, but His definitally turned out looking a lot better than in my Video. I love the way it looks in his vid ;D
0:29 - 0:31 I really liked the Inner Synch with the Guitar-hits there, looked very nice.
0:34 - 0:40 Most likely my favourite Part of the Video, He hit Mood of the song very well and this part had an awesome Flow.
0:41 - 0:43 I dunno..That just made me lol, was mostly the scene and not the way it was used though.
But thats about it. Most scenes seemed to dragg on and NOT went well along with the song. While Some say my Video was "oversynched", while I personally think dokool's vid was "undersynched". Especially the whole Beginning part just dragged on imo.
But Honestly...whoever who says my Vid causes a "seizure"...wow..That made me laugh, I dont think my Vid could be called seizurefetic in any way, I even watched to not overdo the fades to black (which is my favourite editing technique), because some people call that seizurefetic editing, I think they help the flow a lot and make the scenes move a lot smoother.
Also generally I think my Video was a lot more Fun. I admit I had some Problems to get into the song, but especially later on I found it got very enjoyable. My own fave parts of my vid are 0:59 - 1:19 & 1:31 - 2:00..That was just perfect to me and exactly how I wanted it (not trying to sound cocky, just saying I am really happy how this parts turned out).
And saying that dokool's had more inner synch..I dont rly know :/ Most scenes just looked like scenes put in that seem to fit ok-ish, but There wasnt rly much of internal synch either (except 0:20 - 0:31, which really stuck out). I did put hits (or kicks or w/e) mainly on beats, I also used cuts on beats what actually makes mine having more Internal and "cut" synch.
As for saying his Vid was "less random"..I dont rly agree on that, both Videos were pretty random, He just had better Luck with his footage. Ikkitousen is a lot more colorful and the scene colors also look a lot different from scene to scene, that was the only Thing that was like an answer for me about that..
Well, In the End It really looks just like a matter of taste, I just seem have a different Taste than the Judges that voted for dokool. Just bad Luck I guess

Okay, when I made my original post questioning how the hell I pulled off the win (curious as I was), I never at all wanted this to turn into a hatefest on Kev or whatever, so before that appens can I request that people please stop discussing our match?
Seriously, good showing by both sides, judges were obviously conflicted in their decision otherwise it wouldn't have been a 3-2 split, let's agree to disagree and move on, because Kev put a helluva lot of work into his vid (regardless of what anyone thinks of his technique) and he doesn't deserve to be slagged.
Drama has no place here - save it for the AX and/or Otakon contest threads where it belongs

But I miss old school AMV ML flamefests!!!dokool wrote:Drama has no place here - save it for the AX and/or Otakon contest threads where it belongs
Speaking generally because I have not seen any of the videos...
Everyone has their strong points when you have to do these videos under the gun. Sadly my usual strong point of scene selection wasn't up to my own standards. I did do a good job of pulling some basic editing out of my ass for 40 minutes after I spent an hour storyboarding wtf to do.
While source can often make things more difficult the real challenge is ultimately getting a rough concept and some core scenes aligned to build the thing around. If you have trouble with that part your flow will ultimately be weak.
Ultimately if both videos don't have anything that sets them apart majorly in terms of execution or concept then it will basically come down to feel. Any disjointed or botched segments can really kill you here.

I forgot to make a post mentioning this, but aesling and Bashar HAVE rescheduled their match and it is happening TONIGHT at 7pm CST :O!!! Iknowright? zomg?
Also, Decoy and WC have stated that they will be doing their match on Saturday, but they haven't given me a definitive time yet.
What this means is, Round 1 WILL BE OVER THIS WEEKEND :O
What this also means is that if you guys would like to start scheduling your ROUND 2 matches for the following week, I HIGHLY suggest it!! Lets keep this train a'rolling. What made the last tournament last so long was that after the first round, there started to be wider gaps in the matches and thusly, people began to simply lose interest (out of sight, out of mind, that whole thing). So if we keep a momentum of matches going, there's no reason why this tournament can't be over by the end of the year. HuzzAAH!!
