There's a mailing list?
I would just like to say that viewing conditions in the Congress Centre were not optimal. There were over 1000 seats there, so the event appeared to be less well attended than it actually was. In a large concrete hall, you can't set up huge speakers at the front and expect quality acoustics. The sound travelled to the back wall and bounced back, muffling the sound overall and distorting the lyrics to many of the songs, which reduced their impact on the audience. It was difficult to get all the jokes on the more complicated humour pieces. Subtle instrumentation was also lost. For that kind of venue, you need multiple speakers in surround formation playing at a lower volume.
Anyway, we started late because we were scheduled after a Jrock concert. Greedy rockstars wouldn't get off the stage!
Today's repeat screening was a much better experience for gauging the videos' reception; it was in the Doubletree . Eg. inthesto's video met with bewildered polite applause on Friday, but today, people laughed and cheered -- especially the baby .
The dramatic videos, in particular, got a much better reception today, because people could hear the musical transitions more clearly. This greatly affected more moving videos like The Last Conquest (FF XII) and When the Lights Go On Again (Grave of the Fireflies).
The fan service crowd pleasers continued to be crowd pleasers, but in general, the appreciation shown for the other videos was heightened under these conditions.
OK, here are the official results. Sorry, I just got home.

Thanks for the post and update.. I'm real happy to win something at a Canadian Con for the first time. As I'm involved in quite a few of the contests in Western Canada, I dont' get a chance to send anything in to a lot of Canadian contests
This is the final contest I send my entry to (send it to all three cons on the same day) and so I retire my video.
Congrats to all the winners!
Vlad

Ying's not banned? lol wut?
Anywho about the contest, I throughly enjoyed most of those videos... I unlike everyone else like the dogtato video
Mike strife's video was good, I liked the grave of the fireflies video, Mr.Pandas AP video(third strike bitches!) And many of the others good contest this year. Not really dominated by one category.
And I was honestly quite surprised and pleased with Northern lights award.
and damn those novices were good :O
Congrats Buma, Haunter, doki, and all the other winners

I'm surprised some people even found the room... but then again, most of them left during the showing because of how crap the sound setup was. The same went for the ZZ concert on saturday, except they actually decided to put the "performance stage" signKieop wrote:(For those who don't have access to the mailing list...)

heh, nice finally meeting you and chatting. I did manage to attend that 3rd strike tournament, but it was like near the end... and playing with PS2 Controllers...Fall_Child42 wrote:Ying's not banned? lol wut?

I wouldn't go so far as to calling a stick being held together by tape "nice", but it's definitely better than using a PS2 pad.
Still, no forgiveness for people who don't play 3S with me.
I actually would have stuck around longer, but I sensed my friends were getting pissy over having nothing to do, and we had a ten hour drive anyway.
