Well, I have never seen Evangelion ReDeath, and none of the judges brought any sort of similarities to my attention either. Regardless of whether or not it ripped-off the idea from ReDeath, the decision will stand.LuigiHann wrote:It's perhaps a coincidence, as weirder things have happened, but AmPsi's winning entry for round ten, the Planet of the Apes/End of Eva clip, is the exact same joke made at the end of Evangelion ReDeath.
I'm not suggesting it's plagiarism, just noting that the scenes are similar enough that it might fall under the category of "obvious." But then again, that's part of AMV Hell's charm, I suppose...

I can't exactly prove that I didn't steal the idea, but you have my word of honor as a US Marine that when I made my entry, I had no prior knowledge of this other video. If that doesn't do it for you, just remember: there are currently 83,513 videos listed on AMV, and to have a similar video with such a popular anime (NGE) shouldn't be too surprising.LuigiHann wrote:It's perhaps a coincidence, as weirder things have happened, but AmPsi's winning entry for round ten, the Planet of the Apes/End of Eva clip, is the exact same joke made at the end of Evangelion ReDeath.

I don't see the harm as long as AmPsy didn't do it on purpose. I still think it's absolutely hilarious.Ampsy wrote:I can't exactly prove that I didn't steal the idea, but you have my word of honor as a US Marine that when I made my entry, I had no prior knowledge of this other video. Besides, my idea has been done before too. When I had my idea and decided to start making it, I searched the Org for a Naruto video that used the Log theme. I found one.
At first I was like, "Well crap, and I thought I was being original," but then I decided to watch the AMV.
First of all, it was terrible. We're talking subs, lack of sync and quality, he threw in his own pictures of logs with "OMFG" written on them, and he said he did it overnight. Then there was the fact that he used a different version of the Log theme (he used the international version).
So I left him an OP saying what I thought about his video and then basically saying that I intended on making a better one, and I did.
I guess I'm just saying that no one is completely original no matter how hard they may try, but that doesn't mean they can't create something good.
Besides, if 4 experienced judges hadn't seen that AMV before, I doubt that a majority of the viewers of AMV Hell will have either.

Planet of the Apes. In the end the main character sees that the post-apocalyptic, ape-dominated planet he's on is Earth in the future and goes crazy spouting stuff like "You blew it up!" and "Damn you! Damn you all to Hell!"starlightv wrote:i watched ampsys win right and.....i dont get it???
AmPsy used the audio from that and put it to the apocalypic mind-f@$% scene in End of Eva.
So genius.

Thanks Pat, you rock. Using older movie audio like that, you kind of run the risk of half the audience not understanding it. It was a gamble, but I was glad I made it. I once sat though a Planet of the Apes marathon. Five movies (if I remember correctly) in one day. Strange movies...pat_hulse wrote:Planet of the Apes. Here's a picture from whence the audio came:

Just finished up the almost-final version of my second entry for round 11. Good grief is this song hard to edit for! This is a good challenge, Youko Seishirou! o.o Despite it being hard, though, I think what I've turned out so far looks fairly good. I'm actually rather impressed with my ability to synch fast action. And both are much better than my wildcard entry. ^^ Still not sure if either vid is round-winning material yet, but I'm pleased with my efforts if nothing else.
