I figure that's not going to happen until my email updates change from "Anime Expo 2013 AMV Competition - DEADLINE: MAY 4th!!!!!!!!!" to "Anime Expo 2013 AMV Competition - FINALISTS" or something of that sort. Thank goodness I have plenty of distractions in the meantime.

Ever since xtylus has been in charge, we've had it easy in comparison to previous years where we wouldn't get the finalists until a day before the con.

I think at AX2000, the finalists were announced AT the con.

That's because in 2000, you entered the contest by bringing your videotape to con ops on day one of the convention. Judging was done the next night, and the contest was the night after that following masquerade.
