Nobody made the finals and all the videos have been replaced with Pauly Shore movies.

Re: Anime Expo 2013 AMV Competition - DEADLINE: MAY 4th!!!!!
Fixed. Often enough there have been instances in contests where the AMV I voted for didn't win, or it will end up getting runner-up. But then I wonder if I look for certain things as an editor that the audience doesn't. My Best in Show choices are usually spot on though, so I guess it's not a total disconnect.Seijin_Dinger wrote:I can attest to the "Oh wow this is a good video, it should do good... well damn, maybe not"
Granted my tastes seem to differ from what seems to be the majority of the audience now a days.
Yikes, "Real Media". Sounds like caveman speak.l33tmeatwad wrote:So Real Media format is preferred over Windows Media?drewaconclusion wrote:He likes the ones with good compression, proper AR, no fansubs or watermarks and aren't in a .wmv container.

However, the judges aren't always perfect either. One video in a prior year got in by the most ridiculously slimmest of slim margins (if I remember correctly, it barely made the cutoff when three vids above it ended up DQ'd or recategorized, plus there was like a 0.001 point difference between it and the next vid)... ...and it did extremely well.

One of the major contenders for my best in show vote last year was in the preshow(no not mine) obviously the take away here is we should toss out the whole judging thing and play all of the videos that didn't get DQ'd, and let the audience decidexstylus wrote:Nuh uh. Oh, thinking about best in show, I just realized I don't know if parody/trailer vids are eligible for best in show this year (this despite my notorious reputation among friends for always reading contest rules [did you guys notice that one of the weapons in the forbidden weapon list is listed twice every year?)])

Yes, I sure we can get main events for the entire day and everyone will stay to judges them all fairlyCyrix wrote:[One of the major contenders for my best in show vote last year was in the preshow(no not mine) obviously the take away here is we should toss out the whole judging thing and play all of the videos that didn't get DQ'd, and let the audience decide

Re: Anime Expo 2013 AMV Competition - DEADLINE: MAY 4th!!!!!
I saw that happen during the Fanime AMV contest. It was allowed to go on about fifteen minutes longer then it's original time slot which bled into some big panels. I saw a lot of people just get up and leave and hand in their ballots. Even though the contest was held on two different days it which normally works out pretty well, but seeing as how just about everyone was stuck in a 6 hour line to get their badges on the first day, it was kind of a ghost town in there.Vlad G Pohnert wrote:

This is where I imagine all of the doors will automatically lock.
