KATSUCON 17 AMV CONTEST NEED COMEDY & ROMANCE (1/29/11)

Don't take this as the contest not being competitive.
On the contrary, we have an abundance of entries for Action, Upbeat, and Drama.
I'm baffled as to why people are shying away from Comedy in recent years.

Whereas I'm baffled (but amused) as to why people are baffled every year at the relative lack of comedy compared to other genres. It seems to me like it's been going on for longer than that -- I can't remember a year (since I started paying attention) in which most contests *didn't* have this problem.

I have a trailer parody AMV I just finished editing that I was saving for something later, but I think now I'll enter in here. I'm not quite sure what the genre is, I personally thought it was more action-oriented than others, but everyone I've shown it to so far has thought it was a comedy.

It's almost ready to go, all it needs is to be cleaned up in AVISynth and rendered in MPEG2...

Busy with work but will have a chance to lock it up and send it in on Thursday or so...I'll write up an entry as soon as it's done. And if you guys think it's more 'action' than comedy, then feel free to disqualify it.

I remember a couple of years back when there was an overabundance of romance amvs. I stopped making them for a long time since unless yours was the absolute cream of the crop, it didn't even get in, much less have a chance of winning. I imagine I wasn't alone and that's why there aren't as many now.

Aside from the contest, its nice to see people's hard work get shown in front of so many people (at least i think it is). Gives me (and i hope others) a feeling of accomplishment and confidence. =O

Anyone have a rough idea when finalists will be posted? Just curious -so im not checking the forums every single day to find out it will be in like 8 days instead of 2- lol.
