I think that will effect the number of submissions to a degree.
Unless you already had a video ready, or already started one for otakon, then you really did not have much time to get something really good together.
I Started back in December working on and off and was not sure if I would finish in enought time or not. And I know at least 1 person who did not have enough time to finish her video.

Remember, whoever is closest wins.
I don't think that will end up being that much of an effect on the total number. Otakon is one of the cons that I think a lot of people plan way ahead for if they need the time- I generally hear it talked up as the biggest thing next to AWA (and maybe AX, but not for us Easterners).

It's whoever is closest- but this isn't The Price is Right... its not "The closest without going over." I could be wrong, but only time will tell (this weekend, perhaps- I wonder if Matt will tell us what the total numbers were at the prescreenings...)

Actually, I stated in the rules (or at least I *THINK* I stated in the rules - I certailny meant to) that this IS in fact like The Price Is Right - no going over. This, of course, made the person who guessed something like 69 or 95 or so last year's winner. Of course, I could be a REAL bastard and take the person who's closest after the trolling, content, tech problem, and no-form DQ's are taken out as well....

*goes back and reads original post* Yeah, you're right- you did say Price-is-Right style. Hacker's 108 might not be too bad of a call if all of us are over...

We have a winnah!
1999 was <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... ">drama</a>, though.
Yeah, I came back to specifically say....I watched my 1999 Contest tape just 'cause of you (I couldn't remember your entry from that year) and noticed it was your Ghost in the Shell amv. I had to come back to correct myself :P

Actually, you probably won't- you'll likely see Iserlohn and company, though. There are two pre-screenings this weekend- I'll be at the one in NYC (or at least part of it, thanks to Father's Day), and I'd figure you'll be at the one down in Baltimore.

:-) "Guess". Heheheh, I like that. He's funny.

I'll see if I can have a final count of the gross volume of submissions ready by this weekend. It'll have to include all the stuff we received, even submissions that may have to be NC-'d, Cut, or DQ-d later.

Um, we're not in Baltimore this year: all the UMBC club officers had to go home for the summer, so we're doing Saturdays at UMCP (Univ. MD in College Park), which is further to the south.

It's nice down there... there's this huge CD store down the road a ways from the campus, near the highway.
