Did I mention that we need an EDIT button in here?
I would beg for an edit button...but I am below that. Or wait - above that? *shrugs* Meh.

ROFL don't listen to him! his lying! He made Crying Angel for crying out loud!

technically under your rules I would be considered a newb too. I've been making amvs for less than half a year, and only have 5 vids in my profile. I personally think it would be unfair for me to enter something like AR though, since it is quite above newbie standards, and currently apears on the top 10% list. I also have learned alot since I started, and consider myself more on an intermediate level right now. Diferent people take longer to learn than others, and learn in diferent ways. A set amount of Time and experience alone cannot diferentiate between Pro and Newb for everyone, because we are all diferent. I think thats what everyone is trying to say.

But its your contest to hold as you see fit.

Well actually it is within the requirements so if you want to enter, enter. Its no problem. What does being on the top 10% list mean? It just means a lot of people like your vid and your on the list. If you want to enter, I don't see why you shouldnt. Besides, being on the top 10% doesn't mean your the best, it means your good, it means that someone or a lot of people loved your vid and gave it a specail recognition. Yet, you never know there may be things you can learn from others that you never knew before.

This medium is an evolving one and it changes daily. With each day we learn something new. I know I do and I have.

So if you want to, go ahead. Its fine by me. You've been making vids for less then a year so I think that would be fine.

Your right we all learn different ways, I been a member since 2001 and I just edited my first amv. And people are surprised I did my first AMV so well. I just learned from watching other people work. But I still consider myself a Noob. BTW what makes you not a NOOB? Because the way things are going with my second AMV, I know for sure its going in the top 10%.

well I consider a "newb" to be someone who is completely new in the field, and have little to no real exprience in making them. Sorta like how we call new players in an MMORPG (such as FFXI) newbs, but if they happen to level a char to say lv 40 in 1 week, that person is no longer a newb, hes experienced many things in a short amount of time, whereas others may only be lv 10 wihin the same week, and still considered a newb because he hasn't experienced much. Likewise, I'm just basing it off of the amount I have learned since I did my first AMV. (which is largely from doing those free OP threads) however, others may not learn as much as I did in that short amount of time, is what I mean.

Thats just my interpretatrion of it. by no means do I think I make perfect videos, AR has many problems still, And there are a great many editors on these forums that I consider above me in skill. (I'm not naming any names so as to not inflate any egos and such) but it is experience that allows me to *see* theese problems instead of thinking that the video is perfect and that I got mad skillz ;p

I was always a fast learner anyways, even in my computer field. I learn by trail and error and picking apart others works. for example in an AMV, I would try to figure out How the person did every effect (even if its custom) and see if I can dubplicate it to use the skill whenever I would need it. some of these made it into AR.

. BTW what makes you not a NOOB? .
Okay thats a fair question. I'll give you my short bio.

I started doing videos in 2001 with my partner Pacman121. I myself personally have over 100 vids in circulation and J&P Productions has over 211 videos currently out in circulation. We have over eight members currently in J&P Productions that produce videos under our banner. I have many people around the world who have seen my stuff and like it. On a daily basis, I receive over ten fan email messages per day. I have made a strong presence both on winmx, irc and kazaa and actually found a-m-v.org through a friend of mine a year ago who thought it would be a good idea. In addition I've entered over seven contests, three locally here where I live, and four abroad. I am one of the founding members of the Winmx World Anime Music Video Tournament hosted for three years in a row and I have myself won that competition. I have been on the AMV top 10% for my video Taking My Life Away and its still on there in the romance category. My production company J&P Productions has an alliance with Lesser Known Heroz Productions ands together we work to promote our videos and also work on combined projects. I have also worked with EMP Productions. We have three irc rooms on three servers, a website and a 24/7 room on winmx. I have myself trained many young amv makers and I have to say I love this hobby of mine. So, do I consider myself a noob? No. Do I think that I can learn something each day from somebody? Yes. I truly bellieve that as this medium evolves we too shall evolve with it and that education is an ongoing process. You never stop learning. So am I a noob? I think everyone to some extent is whether you've been doing this for six days, six weeks, six months or six years. My firm belief is that there is never really "the best" in this medium because there will always be someone better so the trick is to do the best you can for yourself and your fanbase. That's what I try to do. I know you can never please everyone and I know that there are a great number of people who are better then me. So what I try to do is learn from them to become better myself. One of my most riskiest videos was NazoNazo and I did it because I like to take risks and chances. I like to push the envelope and see what comes out of it. That's my nature. If you ask anyone of my friends or my rivals, they'll tell you the same. As for compeition, I love it. I think its great.

Was the Noob Tourny my idea? No. It came from a friend and J&P crew member, SSJ4 Nightmare, who himself wanted to do this because he thought that a lot of new amv creators make amazing vids and some don't. So why not hold a tournament especially for them. I thgrew my support behind it because like him I saw the potential for something good.

So that's why I am doing this.

also one last thing do not submit your submissions for the tourny here or in pm messages or on msn messenger or aol messenger.

Do it on www.jpproductionsonline.cjb.net and then click the link for the Bitching Station

on the bitching station is a special post for entries into the GNT. That is the only way your submisisons will be submitted and reviewed.

Thanks
