Noooooo i've only found out about this contest very recently and now i've missed half of it!
Ah well, I can still start entering my crap.
Is there no limit to the crap-quality of it? Like, a song at abysmal-quality (like 32 kbps) and abysmal-quality video (under 100 kbps) would be horrible, but that seems to be the objective of the contest...
A parallel would be a flying-machine contest, where you make an elaborate or comedic machine that might suck but still has to fly a little ways.

...me too.If you know of a good GNU-License (freeware) video editor, you have to tell me!
I'm using a trial of Ulead Video Editor 8.0 (and hoping to find a crack, like a way to disable the trial clock). It's the closest interface I've found which compares to WMM2. I mean come on...would it have killed Microsoft to allow that program to save as MPEG2 or true AVI?
Anyway, download and try it. I just wish it didn't have to cost over $400.

It can be horrible or just plain cliche, whatever fits the premis best. Check out some of the past entries on YouTube

That's the profile page.
If you want to match them up to the video they represent, just click on the wiki link
http://amvgraveyard.wikispaces.com/
I have them all labeled there.
You'll see that some are actually good videos, they are just over done, or have something about them that would make them otherwise unwatchable.
You know, sort of a creative exercise.
As far as video editors, I recently upgraded to Video Edit Magic. They have a 30-day free trial if you want to check it out. what you do with it after that is up to you, but it is still cheaper than most of them you find out there.
Still, I'm trying to find something with better transitions, though I have fallen in love with the "chroma key" option on this one, you can check it out here.
