yeah all the videos in Pro are supposed to be released first there... IE New for the contest....however sometimes they don't follow that... I think Code Monkey was the offender this year although it was pretty deserving of its award and I'd never seen it before the pro disks...

No... Master's is the only "premier release required" contest at AWA. I'm not really clear on where everyone got the idea this applied to Pro as well, but it's somethng I keep having to correct everywhere.

The only difference between submitting to Expo and Pro is all the extra rigamarole involved in getting your copies of pro and voting online.

We do have a limitation that you can't submit a single video to AWA that's already (or is simultaneously) competed(ing) in another AWA contest, but that's it.

ah my mistake thanks for the correction. I thought it was part of the blind rules for pro...or maybe it was just something I read in years past?

Sorry for adding to the confusion.

No prob. I should've been jumping on this quicker in the past so it would've been less widespread a misconception.

I did get pictures of the actual dubbing act, but sadly didn't think in time to get the camera ready for the 'crowning' moment. Sorry guys ^^()

It probably came about because a ton of the editors that enter the contest all make new videos and such. I think most of us enjoy trying to guess the other entrants' entries . . . even if we suck at it :uhoh:

It does also seem more to the spirit on the contest to have something new even if its not specifically in the rules that way.

I know lots of people hang on to videos they've finished for months to premiere them in pro. Although most like me barely finish in time. :)

To me it does seem more in the spirit of Pro to submit unreleased videos. If not unreleased, knowingly low-key/un-seen by most editors. It simply keeps the blind judging fair and concise.

True but that would probably really cut down on the number of entires (look at Masters). AWA comes fairly late in the con circuit so this would also radically increase the number of entries in expo because it would become the only contestp eople could send their other videos to.
