...man, I really shouldn't run statistics like this, it just depresses me.
If we accepted up to 2 hours of videos from each submitter, I think I'd STILL be watching AMVs ;)

thankfully Sakura-Con cuts down to 2 hours for the contest
though last year I know some execs were probably not happy at the 12+ hour pre screening

Don't be. That's the point of contests like that.

Kinda wish I could get to one of the other other cons, especially this one. It was a friend showing me the Otakon finalists back in (further back than I'd like to admit) that ultimately got me out to AWA and have been hooked since.

In his defense, on poo-on-you.tube, he says "animated music video" contest instead of anime, so perhaps he really had no clue at all that his obviously wouldn't qualify.

Now that has me thinking. Do even the top rated amv makers out there have enough amvs to tip the scale of 2 hours?

I thought so too, but apparently...

...I actually think I could (not in videos posted to the org, I only upload about 1/4 of them...and regret even that much XD)

...this worries me somewhat...

My method submit everything and announce only the good ones.
I use the ORG to track my AMV progress in a way.

Looks like this year will be quite a year. The AMV contest has always been one of the main attractions for me, but this is the first time I'm in it. I actually thought there would be more in the Comedy/Trailer categories. Well, you know what they say. It's harder to make them laugh than it is to make them cry.

Yeah, participating definitely makes it different for me. Honestly though, looking at so many videos together like that, especially multiple ones for one series, it definitely speaks volumes when watching two totally different videos give you completely different vibes for the series before you've seen it. It's all in an editor's vision.
