Actually, if there is a danger of tickets running out - are the creator tickets for everyone who submitted or only for those who made it to finals? I didn't get an email, so I'm guessing the latter.

Everyone who submitted a valid AMV (regardless of if they made the finals or not) will receive two tickets and one ballot.Cyrix wrote:Actually, if there is a danger of tickets running out - are the creator tickets for everyone who submitted or only for those who made it to finals? I have not sent out emails regarding creator tickets yet. I've only sent emails to finalists asking them to confirm that the information on the ballot is accurate.

I haven't check previous pages to see if this was brought up before, if so then just ignore this.
There were a lot of rumors going around at E3 about the LA city council wanting to build a football stadium in Downtown LA. Which in itself wouldn't be a big problem were it not for the fact that there have been talks about knocking part of the convention center down because of it. Anyone know anymore more on this and the possible implication it might have on AX 2013?

Wouldn't affect AX or any other LACC event at all. West Hall wouldn't be knocked down until Pico Hall (the intended name for the new wing of the convention center) was fully built to replace the rooms that would be lost.Niotex wrote:I haven't check previous pages to see if this was brought up before, if so then just ignore this.

Looks like I might need to add stuff to pre-show. I've got looooooots of time.
Friday:
Seating begins at 7:30pm. When the doors open, I'll hit "play" on pre-show unless there's some technical stuff still to be handled.
Main competition starts PROMPTLY at 9:00pm and is scheduled to end at 12:00am. I anticipate we'll probably be done by 11:30pm.

Holy marshmallows to the cracker, a whole 10.5 hours worth of AMV programming! Great job on the programming Troy.
I'm still bummed for not making it in this year. Put that nail in the coffin with that post about the preshow since now I know that I was way off with my entries this year. Honestly I love AMVs, actually it's beyond that with music (a bit off subject there) but with the slim chance of participation this year in some events, I'm put down after 3 years of effort. I can't believe I'm already considering next year, but it almost feels like putting in any amount of old school sources into my video is a complete turn off to the judges unless I jungle in some super crazy effects with a kick ass anime that isn't more than 3-4 years old (no offense).
Chances (and sadly) are I might actually be pushing for that direction next year but again I love to criticize my own videos before considering them for submission. As a matter of fact I judge others and before taking a look at my own to reinvent the editing style that I use so the video feels fresh. I still like my videos but it feels like the advice given to me on why I don't get in or what's missing from the video just throws me off because most people don't offer me any suggestions as to what I should do. I'm glad that people take a look and I have no qualms about it, I actually appreciate it a lot. Though sometimes I hardly get any advice on what to actually change and it bothers me to a huge extent, I had only had one beta tester give me some detailed help and that was after the submission deadline. Here is what I get mostly though:
Tester 1: OMG! It made my friend squeal like a fangirl!
Tester 2: Awesome work, and great scenes, hope you make it in. The mixture that you had in a few parts were cool.
Tester 3: I probably won't take a look a look at it past 3:00 because of the spoilers. (Threw this one in for jokes. You know who you are. )
Tester 4: Your video was inconsistent with the random scenes(I don't get this terminology when it's not even explained to me) but it also seems a bit odd. (Would not have minded this if I actually had specific scenes and details)
Test 5: nice.
Here is what I would love to get more often.
Tester 4: Overall you have a nice video but I would recommend changing the scene at 2:10 to that scene in Anime 1,in episode 34 at 17:58. Also make some changes to the scene at 1:42 since it feels a bit off in terms of the pacing with the two scenes that you use before and after it. After that show me again.
I don't want to be dependent on review/opinions but when I take a look at some of the contestants videos (in regards to this year and last year), I wonder if I'm getting the wrong opinion. Sometimes I just think people are trying to criticize me in some way to help out rather than to play it honest and say that they are unsure of what needs to be fixed. I probably I wouldn't be complaining if I was in this year, but AX is one of the few cons that I actually go to in regards to the AMV contest itself. I don't enter too many contests and I don't like to troll them either. The one year that I got in (2009) threw me off because my Pro video (Valhalla) was a toss up of experimental effects with some story to guide i0, that was it. Maybe I should have followed the guidelines with my old projects. Just putting my opinion out there on how I see myself in regards to contest. Maybe I should change my taste but I don't want to for the sake of getting in, then again, what would be the point of editing if I did that?
I can't wait to see the contest again this year because I got a few friends in it that I'm willing to vouch for. But honestly, I'll probably throw a major fit and eat Castor Troy since he's retired if the same circumstances happen again next year. Actually, I'll be doing that this year, along with my usual fights with the floor.

Send me a pm next time you need a beta tester. Sometimes it takes me a bit to get around to it, but my betas are really obnoxiously detailed xDRyvannis wrote: I'm glad that people take a look and I have no qualms about it, I actually appreciate it a lot.
