omg, you're no longer TEH FAMOUS.dwchang wrote: At the same time, like you, I look forward to enjoying my first Otakon with no worries or being nervous (that sinking feeling in your stomatch right when the title card comes up is...wow). It's amazing that even after being in Otakon a few years and thinking you'd have gotten use dto it, you still get insanely nervous when watching your own video with that many people .

I got my amv in. I sent it out Saturday Express Mail. Now I may be the one with that feeling in my stomach. Hopefully I don't pass out this time like I almost did in 2004. lol. That's if I make the finals, it'll be nice to see it on the big screen whenever it gets played I'll be there.shinodude wrote:well deadline is ending after today it seems? you get yours in gene?

I don't remember if I met you at Otakon in previous years, but if not, you need to come out of hiding .rogueintellectproductions wrote:Amen to that, br'er. Of course, I have an entirely different reason to be nervous about Otakon this year...
Chris
And yeah that feeling of wanting to vomit as your title card comes up is like...
...the immediate feeling after it is over is quite nice though. Well minus the 2 second pause where you go "WHY IS NO ONE CLAPPING?!?!? OMFG!!!!...OH WAIT THERE IT IS!"
OH NOES TEH WORLD IS ENDING!Castor Troy wrote:omg, you're no longer TEH FAMOUS.dwchang wrote: At the same time, like you, I look forward to enjoying my first Otakon with no worries or being nervous (that sinking feeling in your stomatch right when the title card comes up is...wow). 3 questions.
First, what are people who make AMVs officially called? AMV Directors, Editors, Creators? I just call everybody, "people who make AMVs."
Second, do people who make AMVs ever meet anywhere? I'd like to meet some people who make videos, and say, "hey, nice video. How did you do that?"
I'm going to Otakon 2006, and I've submitted an AMV. And I've seen a thread on this forum about Iron Editor at Otakon 2006. I don't know if I'm alone in being interested in watching how other people make AMVs. I took a video editing class in school, but I've never seen anyone make a good video before.
Third, how do AMV studios get made? Are they really a group of people, or just one person calling him or herself a studio? And if there are real groups of people who make AMVs, how do they work, and can I join one?

I've been at the last couple of Otakon AMV dinners, but I'm kinda standoffish (read:completely invisible). I'm usually the gargoy..., erm, big guy in the corner - I'm so beta male, I'm practically gamma. Tell ya what, though, I'll make a concerted to be more gregarious (though drinking may be involved. )dwchang wrote:I don't remember if I met you at Otakon in previous years, but if not, you need to come out of hiding .
You going to prescreen?
Chris
To paraphrase one Mr. Cool James, please refrain from referring to it as a revival, I've been lurking for ages.

Normally referred to as either AMV editors or AMV creators.ReligionX wrote:First, what are people who make AMVs officially called? AMV Directors, Editors, Creators? I just call everybody, "people who make AMVs."
Typically most of us have become friends online and then meet up at conventions, but also many of us just meet at cons or in real life or basically however you'd meet anybody else you eventually become acquaintances with.ReligionX wrote:Second, do people who make AMVs ever meet anywhere? Studios can oftentimes be just one person who also uses a "studio name" but only as a formality (me for example, will sometimes use "AtomX Productions" as my "studio name." However, it's also not uncommon for several people to be a part of a group studio, who all release videos under a common group name (examples include Random Destination Studios, More Than Toast, Hypeodermic Studios, Visualized Nightmare Studios, Blood Sugar Productions, and many more). As for joining one, typically there's no sort of formal "joining" process. It's just a group of friends. There's usually no real tight infrastructure or "activities" so trying to join one in which you don't really know the people isn't too advantageous.ReligionX wrote:Third, how do AMV studios get made? DAMN! Everyone else beat me to the reply.
But anyway if you are curious in seeing other people MAKE videos, checkout "Iron Editor" at Otakon. It's Like Iron Chef but with AMV's.
Not really sure the end product will be "good"... but you will get to see them edit lol.
